New To Audiophile

more_vert
I am looking to get into some audiophile with some headphones, I have been looking at the Drop x Sennheiser HD 58X and the HD 6XX, now I don’t know if I will be able too afford a Dac/Amp to go with them right off the bat, therefore probably not taking full advantage of their sound. But as a new person dipping my toes into this realm is that a good start and how would they sound just plugged into my PC which has a Z370 Asus Prime motherboard that they will plug into. Any and all recommendations and help is appreciated

IMO, I would suggest that you look into a headphone which is more efficient. Considering that you're looking at the 6XX which is rather power hungry right of the bat, the motherboard will not be able to drive them well. May I suggest getting something like the SHP9500s and perhaps a nice little DAC/AMP combo? That may be a better way to go about without breaking your budget, whilst getting a better overall sound at the end of the day. Cheers!

Marcustang1993I can certainly look into those also, just trying to replace my Steelseries Arctis 7’s cause that goggle strap has been replaced 4 times and i have had enough 🤣

Since it seems like you're going to stick with the hobby, I advise you get the HD6XX. Save up for a small Schiit stack; Modi 3+ and Magni 3+ is good enough. Stick with those for a while and really listen to them; getting a baseline reference is really important in order to make the right moves in your system later.

dcha12Awesome, I will also keep looking as a beginner I am doing as much research as I can since I am looking to replace my Steelseries Arctis 7 headset since I am tired of replacing the goggle strap they use. Just trying to get an upgrade i would say since while gaming i listen to music and rarely talk on discord so i can get a blue yeti mic separately down the road if i need to
