Panda Product Updates

more_vert
Hey Panda Fans, We’re enamored to see how many people love their Panda Wireless headphones. When we designed this product we wanted a truly unique, audiophile-grade wireless offering and your reviews are largely aligned with that. That being said, we’re aware that there’s a handful of different operational and functional issues that may be interfering with your enjoyment of the headphones. Our team has been working hard behind the scenes on a firmware patch to address the commonly reported issues of connectivity (disconnections, skipping, etc.) and inconsistent behavior (control stick unresponsiveness, settings, etc). We’ll have a follow up next week with more details about recent actions taken. In the meantime, if you’re having issues and want a replacement or refund, please reach out to our customer service team and they’ll be happy to help.

In the past few weeks, our internal teams have reviewed the reported headphone issues from customer feedback and have collaborated with the Customer Support team to improve your experience.  The Customer Support team is equipped with additional detailed troubleshooting workflows to either help you get your unit working, or determine if your unit warrants a replacement. We provide all instructions and details to process a return if needed.  We continue to collect more feedback along with serial numbers which will be used to improve the performance of the Pandas.

Currently we are gathering samples of returned units and we are working together with our engineering and manufacturing teams to thoroughly investigate the reported issues.

T.FernandezCome on guys! It shouldn‘t last months to fix this! Most of Panda users have now dead headphones at home, spread all around the world. That is embarrassing! You should really work day and night to fix this in the next few days.

T.Fernandez@T.Fernandez has your team gotten any insights into why so many units end up bricking (totally unable to power on) or experience crippling bugs like suddenly disconnecting, powering off or muting? I'm not hassling you but Drop has never commented on any of these issues aside from saying to RMA, which is not a sustainable solution and not an option once the warranty runs out. I can understand that some issues are due to Android or Windows driver implementation etc, but flat out bricking? That is some serious defect in either the firmware or the electronics.

Hey folks, based on requests, we’re working on adding an update and option to reset to the original firmware. This update will be ready for both Windows and Mac by June 30th. Our CS team is ready to assist, and can ship a replacement unit with the original firmware if you run into an issue.

I'm hoping the latest release will resolve this issue as well. Support won't provide me with anything to help troubleshoot this any further.

T.FernandezIs there an update for this release? And no, your customer service team is not standing by others including myself that are not original purchasers such as second hand purchases or gifting. It is a terrible experience for us looking into purchasing directly in the future.

T.FernandezWe have heard this line a million times before @Will would know. Long delays, testing and finally releasing a heavily bugged product after a long wait. My Pandas are just collecting dust. They are useless, the SoundID app is not made for an average customer, the interface is not easy to deal with and to top it off I have to forget my device and pair it every time I log on to SoundID. this was by far the worse customer experience I have ever had with a headphone that was meant to beat the competition, it makes more sense now why more mainstream brands are more reliable. It's because they have a solid team behind them who look at customer feedback and identify issues from the get go. Not sleep on it and then send out announcements a year later.

Today we are releasing a new version of the Panda Updater Tool which will enable you to reset your Panda to the original Firmware.   To do so first remove the currently installed version of the application and download the new version 1.6 for your Mac or PC.  Once installed, launch the application and connect your Panda via the provided USB-C cable.  You will see a new “Reset” button added to the program.  Wait for the application to complete the installation before disconnecting. Important to Note: Please be aware that resetting to the previous firmware will remove SoundID compatibility.  Your Panda will no longer be able to connect to the SoundID application and utilize its features. If you require additional assistance with the firmware reset please contact our support team who will be happy to assist. T.FernandezYup, my Pandas are now bricked. Tried firmware update but neither my laptop nor my PC even recognises the things. Bought headphones off eBay so Drop's support team don't want to hear it... I think it's a bit ridiculous to boycott a company like Drop who usually make excellent gear but from my experience with this, and hearing other's similar stories, this Panda debacle is a shitshow; and does rest with Drop. Very disappointing.

T.FernandezHello there! My Pandas all of a sudden stopped working today (not sure why). After trying to charge them and resetting them (neither of which worked), I am currently trying to update the firmware. After downloading and installing the application you linked and following the instructions in the window, my Pandas THX lit up the red light, but I did not see any change in the updater screen. Is this an expected behavior? Besides, if the firmware update does not work, how do I contact the warranty for this product? Sincerely, Andrei K.

Mine have lasted a long time sine I rarely use them. I typically go for my larger wired headphones. Today I decided to pop them on for a listen and lo and behold, they won't turn on. I charged them up. Still won't turn on. Does anyone have a part number for the board inside (or a source to get them). I'm fine with opening them up to swap out the board if it can be sourced.

Where can I buy ear pads? Is this a trend with DROP products? They EOL products a year after release and make every sub-product unavailable? This is a bit frustrating.

Huh, seems like mine have survived among the longest before kicking the bucket. They're mechanically OK, but after having been off for a few hours they don't turn on, instead they go into an undefined mode, which allows me to actually get them to turn on ~10 minutes after first trying to turn them on. Then the audio is usually a scrambled mess for several minutes, sounds like the DAC can't keep up with the PCM signal, then, if I get lucky, the headphones work for ~5-10 minutes, after which it'll go back into the scrambled mess mode, and return to normal operation after another ~5-10 minutes. Kinda sad because I liked them and I'm forced to use stupid bluetooth because phone manufacturers don't deign to add 3.5mm ports to their phones anymore...

My pandas don't seem to work - suddenly, they charge, push the button, they come on and then turn off. Push the button, turn on, and then turn right off. The light doesn't turn red or anything, just off.
