HD6XX With Fiio E10K or Fiio A5 or Fiio Q1?

more_vert
I just ordered the beautiful HD6XX and was wondering thoughts on the apm/dac i might invest in... I chose those three because i have my Shure IEMs that i bring with me all the time and those amp/dac are portable... So just wondering what the community thought.
My Budget for them are around $200 AUD (Around $150USD)

I don't listen that loudly frequently or for long periods of time. I do find the mood sometimes though.

Would love to know as well. Did you get responses elsewhere or make a decision?
Came across the A5 here but would rather keep the price around the $100 CAD range, hence considering the E10K https://www.head-fi.org/threads/is-there-actually-a-decent-portable-amp-for-the-hd650-under-200.856152/page-2#post-13621655
E10K gets mostly good reviews with the HD650/XX but depends on what you're comparing it to. It will definitely work fine, but may or may not be some minor drawbacks as far as I can tell, like perhaps if there is a large base kick it might suffer a little but only in comparison to higher end stuff if you're really listening for it? Hard to say. https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/search?q=hd650%20e10k&restrict_sr=1
" That doesnt matter. The e10k will run the HD650. Check this out: http://www.audiobot9000.com/match/sennheiser/hd-650/with/fiio/e10k The owner of Headfonia has also said the e10k can run HD650, and they are his all-time favourite pair of headphones. Don't worry. It's not he optimal choice but it works. If you want better sound you have to spend more money. " https://www.head-fi.org/threads/powering-sennheiser-hd650s.747845/
Haven't dug deep into the Q1 but being that the E10K seems to be around the bare minimum and some people even say the A5 won't fully do the 650 justice I would think the Q1 wouldn't be a very good value. Price difference (at least on Amazon Canada) is only about $20 between the Q1 and the E10K, then it jumps to $170 for the A5.
I plan to try it with my Macbook Pro first which apparently should have a good DAC compared to other laptops anyway. If I find the sound lacking or am curious I will try the E10K.
Best bet really is to try them with what you have now and see if you can borrow / try various other amps/dacs from someone to see if there is a noticeable difference to you. I feel like I can hear the difference between certain headphones if I listen very intently whereas some people might notice differences easily / right away and others till not at all. I think it's too subjective for a blanket answer.
