More vacuum tube show and tell. This lot of Reflektor 6P3S (6L6G) from 1990 was another score from a vendor in Ukraine for an extremely reasonable price. Nice big cheap batches like this are starting to get a bit harder to find, so I jumped all over it when it became available. I’ve gotta be careful where I use these as they’re notorious for being hit and miss at voltage above spec, but for 250v stuff they’re dang nice. The first thing I did was test a random pair of them in my AT1000 followed by a quick trip to my PA1502A APPJ for some Armin van Buuren. A little gassy, but within 2% match, lucky. Even without burn-in they sound fairly good, easily on par with the Tungsram pair I was using, and close to as good as the JJ 6L6GC pair I normally use. Sometimes taking a risk on these opened factory batches pays off.

Dang, I almost feel guilty spending the afternoon with loudspeakers, preamp and dac. Enjoying what I do have is always a good idea.
