jaxtraumaNice set-up! The Focals are nice but I've read much about quality control and epic failures in some models. I owned the Focal Celestee for 10 days and wanted so much to love them. They were really an attractive pair of headphones I thought, they were pretty comfortable although they did clamp my head a little too much. They likely would have loosened up a bit and not been problematic in the comfort, but my gosh, they had absolutely no soundstage and I found them quite boring. At $1000 I wasn't comfortable with uncertain reliability. I have two other closed back headphones, a KEF and a Sony but they do offer up some soundstage. The Sony is a BT headphone with extra bass but I don't use that feature. My god they can just hammer your head and mash your brain cells. The KEF is a good sounding noise cancelling. I think I have enough closed back cans to keep me happy, I much prefer an open back. I might eventually look into the ELEX. Are those Focal open or closed? Focal makes a ton of headphones from what I've seen. I still have the home system, most of it anyway. It's a mixture of newer and vintage and I sold a pair of floorstanders because they really were too much for a small room.

MrChiSox Thanks ;-) I've not heard of problems with the Clear, I haven't had any issue with them. + sound stage as well as incredible separation. I've stayed away from closed-back sets particularly regarding lack of sound stage, but I won't know until I try. That's one of the beautiful things about audio: there's always something else to try. I'm aiming for a tube amp, electrostatic headphones and maybe one day, FOCAL speakers , but not the $350,000 Grande Utopia EM EVO. I gots to think big!

jaxtrauma$350,000 is big coin. But if someone has it and wants to spend it it's not my place to suggest how to do it. That's one of my biggest peeves. I look at it as I only have to please myself. IF I had the money I'd certainly entertain things like McIntosh or Krell, and being one to enjoy the sound signature of a British louspeaker I might spend stupid money on the KEF Muon. Alas I don't and likely won't. I used to constantly try new things as my budget would allow but one day I came to the realization that I was constantly listening to the same music over and over so I settled for having a system I could live with. And over time life just kind of happened and circumstances changed and that was that. LOL I still love listening though. I hope your Clears stand the test of time, they look really nice. Keep dreaming BIG, it beats not having a dream at all. A woman said to me some months back, "A thousand dollars or more on a stupid pair of headphones? You're an idiot!" to which I thought, "who needs to spend $1000. on a darn cell phone every 6 to 12 months"? I'd wager I can plunk my $200. LG into the toilet just as well as she can dunk her $1200. iPhone into it.

MrChiSoxIt has been a while since I watched one of his videos, but I always think about the rant the z reviews guy on youtube made in the beginning of his lcd-x video; he had a similar message.

mikeonlineZeos ranted about the LCD-X? I haven't personally heard it but most reviews say that it's an incredible sounding headphone. I love Audeze, personally. I'll stick to the open back variety and away from the cheap ones. I sometimes consider the LCD-3 as the upper most of what I would ever spend, and also the X but have no desire to hear the LCD-2 classic. I just like the wood rings and my LCD-2 which originally came to me in Shedua wood but the ring broke due to an imperfection of the grain in the wood and and where it was drilled to put the screws in. Happy to report that their cutomer service was outstanding in my case. Shedua wood was not available at time of repair so I was offered Carribean Rosewood and accepted. Gorgeous!

mikeonlineOK, I got it. LOL Hey, it's our money to do with as we wish. It's really not up to anyone else. It's kind of like food. I live in Chicago and some feel compelled to say that a person can't put ketchup on a hotdog or they want to argue about the best pizza available. I say, "have it your way", to borrow the old BK jingle lyrics. Bigger fish to fry. LOL

MrChiSoxI ran into that video a while back! LOL He's right though. Some spend thousands of dollars on a TV and think nothing of it yet are critical of another who spends big coin (their own, no less) on a pair of headphones which will long outlast the TV so long as they aren't abused.
