Distortion with playing music from iTunes on my Mac with my HD6XX headphone!?

more_vert
Here's my setup - Cambridge Audio DacMagic, Monolith THX 887 Amp. When listening to lossless music from Apple Music from my iPhone, it works fine. But somehow switching it over to connect to my MacBook Pro, the sound is greatly distorted!? The odd thing is with this setup, playing a Music Video from iTunes or youtube, it sounds fine. The terrible distortion happens only when I play any songs from Apple Music. What could be the reason?! My MacBook Pro is running Mac OS Big Sur which supports Apple lossless. Anyone having similar problem?!

Remove the components from the chain, one by one until you isolate the cause. For instance, your headphones connected directly to your MacBook (w/ an adapter) sound fine, right? Can you go directly from the MacBook to the Amp, without the DAC in the mix?

Does your setup work correctly with any other headphone? Could it be that the DAC cannot properly decode the Apple stream. If so, this would be the same for any headphone connected to that setup.
