They make it a bit vague, but I read and reread it like a half-dozen times myself and finally noticed this: “making it a great choice for on-the-go cabling or headphone connections.” That still doesn’t tell us what iPhones models it’s compatible with, if there’s a minimum iOS version you must have, or if it will work with a DAC attached to the USB C end (the reason it caught my attention)? I’ll probably do some digging online myself to find answers, but please Drop, can you fill in some of the blanks for us? This looks like an awesome find, but there’s not enough information to even remotely let us know if it’ll work for our needs.

So this piece right here would be my salvation :P For all I believe, it should work on 14+ or something. @Drop do help out here with a bit more details. +A generic question, does it sit right with Spigen cases? dheerajkumar490Glad to help, just wish I had more insight to share with you! 😞 Generally, you’re right, almost all of these devices will work on just about any device with a lightning connector and iOS 14.x! I am simply looking for a slimmer solution to bypass the Camera Connection Kit or Adapter option for use with a Venture Electronics (VE) Odyssey HD DAC, which only comes with USB C. I’d suggest grabbing one… or a couple as I did as they’re only $10 for the single ended version. I’ll digress and admit that some of its specs are just OK, however it has a monstrous sample rate up to 24bit/96kHz and 32bit/384khz!!! If this offering for DACs is anything like what VE gave to the world with their Monk Plus, it’s gonna be a game changer!!! I was blown away by the quality the first time I heard the Monk Plus, and all I could think of was how the hell I could mod it to take better advantage of it! 😂 I saw that there’s a current drop for the TC35i, BTW, but that won’t give us USB C. It’s only the same DAC as Apple’s OEM offering (24/48), just in a stainless case so it’s far less prone to noise, distortion, and the like (not to mention breakage)! I will chime in and say that I’ve exclusively used Spigen cases for the last five or so years, so provided you don’t have one of the gigantic “armor” cases, you should be just fine. You may even be OK with one of their tough cases, but just pay close attention to how much wiggle room the case allows on the outer perimeter of the lightning connector. I’m most likely gonna give this drop a go. I was gonna place a small order anyways as I’ve really been wanting to give the Koss KPH30i a try, I hear it’s got excellent sound for being so lightweight! Hopefully this adapter works for me! I just don’t want to miss out if it does the job! Cheers! ✌️

dheerajkumar490So, I’m with you that it’s definitely not the TC28i, but I just went ahead and bit the proverbial bullet ordering one along with a Koss KPH30i, which I’ll have the balls to digress from the masses and say that it looks pretty damn snazzy in ‘Rhythm Beige’ with the red and blue accents! Kinda retro on retro if you ask me! I’ll also never forget what side to put them on! 😂 Did you get one, or will you be getting one too, before the drops over? I am fairly certain that it will work just fine for a DAC. It already says it’ll do charging, and headphones which require an inline DAC anyhow!

dheerajkumar490No! My order somehow got flagged by their credit card processor as “potential fraud,” even though I had an account and placed previous orders just fine! By the time that I discovered the order was “Canceled,” and contacted Drop to work it out, the Drop was over. So, I too am planning on putting in an order for this Drop as well. I purchased a cheap OTG on Amazon, but even though it works it’s also loose and is very finicky if moved. In the meantime it’s good enough with some electrical tape to hold the USB side in place until this one eventually comes. Please let me know how yours ends up working out and I’ll do the same. ✌️

dheerajkumar490Here’s the link for the adapter I’m trying to work with. It was like $15 (thought it was less!) and the only one with halfway decent reviews. I may have just got an odd one out, but as usual with third party (and OEM) USB OTG adapters for iPhone, you can only go from lightning to USB-A. I’m then using a USB-A to USB-C adapter to get my Odyssey HD DAC hooked up. It’s just too many parts to get HD sound out of this thing. So, I’m considering soldering the Type A connector permanently to the dongle, then there won’t be any problem. The issue is exactly that, the Type A ‘port’ is just loose enough to where a small bump will reset everything. So, until I get a proper dongle like this one, it’s either gonna be a s*** load of electrical tape (which I have no doubt would hold up for a month or two) or taking the time to solder it. I had a few more soldering projects planned including replacing the piss-poor cable on the Koss KPH30i with an audiophile grade cable. I would probably use a Fiio High-Purity Microcrystalline Silver Plated Replacement Cable, and just remove the MMCX connectors and solder the wires directly to each driver. That way great headphones + great cable! Actually, here’s my realistic options: — I did literally just check Amazon and I can still return the dongle until 9/16, so I may just try swapping with another first. — I have an older LG G6 that’s a spare phone and it has Type C built in. It may be a solid Music player and solve my issue (I’d still rather use my iPhone though)… any thoughts for or against the idea? — Finally, tape or solder until this little guy arrives. Please let me know your thoughts on just using the G6. It still is a pretty solid phone. I can easily swap out songs on a card as Android storage is expandable. You get the idea. scottjNo problem! Glad you liked it! How does it sound with your setup? I actually bought two Odyssey HDs, one for listening and the other to keep with my laptop. I found that it sounds great when oversampling just enough. Think taking a 44.1 to 96 instead of 48. Don’t go over that as you’ll lose volume. I also extended my audio chain with a FX-Audio- Tube-03 Preamp followed-up with an O2 amp. The sound is amazing with a nice pair of IEMs, but brings life out of budget cans as well! If I’ve learned one important lesson with all this, it’s that great audio doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! Just understand the basic engineering principles behind it, and you’ll do just fine instead of spending way too much and lacking understanding as to how the pieces all work together. Looking forward to hearing what you think of the sound. Hoping it’s the best $10 you’ve spent in a while! ✌️

It's a USB-C DAC/AMP (Also comea with a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 dongle to use to plug into your PC to update firmware, to use as a DAC/AMP for desktop or laptop from anything to opera music to FPS gaming with superhuman hearing button. But you can set the G3 to a specific use setting like for a certain device or for use with a certain video game) and with not only 3.5mm port for audio but a separate one for microphone if you needed to use 2 separate devices for headset and mic. (Plug into PC to tweak a huge selection of features to make a crappy $10 headset sound amazing and make the microphone sound much better than normal by tweaking settings on the PC software that saves each specific settings into 2 profiles you can switch back and forth to even after it has been unplugged ) ALSO has a Toslink (optical port) so it can be used from anything from a MacBook, phone, PlayStation 4/5, also has Bluetooth capability so you can change settings using the creative app directly from your phone.

KiefofpoliceFirst up, I wish you a very Happy New Year! 🥳 🎈 Yup. I’m very familiar with the G3! Creative has been one of my favorite brands for over two decades now, especially on the PC-side of things. Every now and again they may create (no pun intended) a dud, but by and large Creative generally puts out quality product at a fair price. One of my all time favorite set of cans is my Creative BlasterX H7 Tournament Edition! 😃 They sound remarkable, so good in-fact that my CEO from before I retired (who himself came from managing radio stations) looked at me and said “who’s set of cans are these?!” He wasn’t surprised when I replied “Creative.” As it was a small company, he and I sat across from one another, so if something caught his eye or vice versa, one of us would say to pass it on over. It was nice sharing that office with someone who appreciates audio that doesn’t suck! So, like myself, you see that it is not very difficult at all to whip together a good little audio setup on the cheap. The top 5 biggest failures in my opinion are when peeps: — Overthink it! — Overspend their hard earned dough! — Don’t research their options. — Don’t have enough entry level knowledge to throw the right items together. — Believe in hype! That said, I can see the G3 working tremendously! Of course I also enjoy tinkering and on occasion am surprised by lackluster results such as not taking into consideration the power requirements of a USB device or the like. I guess part of that comes with the genuine excitement we get when making that next tweak to make our audio sound even better! When said magic no longer seems to exist, it’ll be time to find a new hobby, but in the meantime — cost permitting of course — I don’t see that on the agenda. 😂😆😂 Cheers, ~ Jay ✌️

SuperFlyEDSguyFirst off, Happy New Year to you as well! I pray this year won't make people hoard even more PC/audio peripherals anymore than they already are to resell them for absurd prices. I actually bought my G3 several years back as it was only $35 from the Creative website, and it blew me away that I could use it from anything from my iPhone /Google Pixel 4a as well as using it via USB-A on my work laptop to give literally any price set of cans a nice little upgrade, and of course I'm a sucker for all the different mic presets, or specific device/game presets you can choose on the PC software. So whenever I wanted to use the G3 on my Xbox One via the TOSlink/optical connection I could set it to a specific sound profile for gaming or if I was watching a movie from my Xbox (which I usually always watch movies on my Xbox after I realized how many small conversations or details that are vital to the whole plot of the movie I was missing before I began using Dolby Atmos combined with a solid pair of cans....and now It's hard to go back to watching any TV/Movies just using external speakers 😂. I won't lie, your reply was a super refreshing comment to read (and great positive vibes to start off the new year). So just wanted to say thank you for that! Sometimes It feels like people would rather argue, than share and collaborate their experiences so instead of 3 people all making the same mistake by buying a sub par product and finding out later it was a bad purchase....especially since I'm by no means an extremely knowledgeable audiophile and prices these days do be hittin the wallet a little harder than they used to haha (Even though I own and alternate a solid 10 different pairs of cans I depending on what I'm doing, or where I'm at...and a few random DAC/AMPS. I'm always open to learning more from the more experienced and wealthy audiophiles hah. I remember back when I first began building my own PC'S (20 years ago 😂) Soundblaster internal PCI-E sound cards like the X-Fi Fatality etc were top of the line. But then I kinda forgot about Creative (as a brand) when motherboards began including very nice on-board surround sound DAC/AMPs. (But I always enjoyed their sound cards as I still own that X-Fi internal card that not only came with the 7.1 card but also a 3.5" front facing extension input that took up the space of an optical drive slot on a desktop PC case as well as an amazing remote that was way ahead of its time especially since Roku's and Amazon Fire TVs were not yet a thing and I could use my single desktop work/gaming PC as a Home Theater PC as well. That's so awesome you mentioned the Creative H7 tournament editions! I actually purchased those exact cans as I was reading all the specs of Creatives headsets etc roughly a year or so ago when they would email deals that were like "buy any G3,G5,G6 amp and get a headset from a list of several for 50-60% off" so naturally I couldn't turn down a nice deal like that....unfortunately the package was lost in transit to my house and I never got a chance to try them out, but I might just have to go snag a pair assuming they haven't tripled in price. But thanks for mentioning that, glad to hear those H7's are everything I was hyped about and hyped to hearing haha. My apologies....I just realized I've been rambling much longer than I thought, but 100% agree with you about the tinkering is never done as well as doing research, believe the hype, make your own opinion 👌 Some of my favorite headsets actually have 2 star ratings on Amazon right now (even though Amazon is probably the worst place to go to find accurate ratings with so many people getting paid off or receiving free products for 5 star reviews) AND many people completely fail to read the 4 short, but important, sentences written on several places on the packaging...like "fully charge the headset first, plug it in via USB to a PC and update it to the latest firmware before first use". Unfortunately I've come to accept "common sense" (much less any sense) is no longer common...but if you're ever having a bad day read some 1 star Amazon reviews on a product you own that works great, and it's almost a guarantee ego boost after reading someone spent minimum 3 minutes attempting to use it, claim it's a dud and return the next day....and the fix was just holding down the "on" button an extra 2 seconds 😂 Cheers!

KiefofpoliceActually, this was a pleasure to read! 👍👍 Sadly, the H7 is now a legacy product. Even the H5 is a legacy product. The H7 and H5 were basically the same except there was no DAC in the H5. They now have the H6, which looks like the only respectable gaming headset they have left. It’s pretty slick and has RGB, but Creative has been very weird about their RGB gaming products over the last few years. They had some very nice ones that made up an entire suite of products, and now at least half of them have been phased out. A shame, really. 😞 I’m just curious if you were supposed to have received the H7 bundled with a Katana? It’s a very respectable speaker setup and I would get one if I had more space for it. They also recently released the more powerful Katana v2. One other item worth mentioning is their Stage 360 soundbar — it has Atmos! 👌 Audio is such a personal thing, it truly all boils down to what you like and no one should tell you otherwise! Again. It was a great read, especially to end the week on! 👏👏👏 Be well! ✌️

Ringing in PC38X's

I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?

Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x

Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!
