One of my favorite 'camping' spots was an old cabin up in the northern NC mountains. The cabin overlooked the New River, so tubing and fishing were a must.

The porch was magnificent, and any time I wasn't on the river was spent on the porch in some nice old homemade rocking chairs.
Inside just reeked of 80's nostalgia. Ugly furniture, my full collection of home recorded Andy Griffith Show episodes on VHS, and a nice fireplace that provided any and all heating.

It might not have been traditional 'camping' but the few luxuries the cabin provided really helped me get outside and truly connect with the surroundings in a way I generally don't when I'm just hiking through an area. Sadly, there was no internet or cell service, so Tom probably wouldn't be down with this place.
