I've got one, maybe two closed back purchases in me. Ideally I definitely want one of them to be for mobile use. Foldable would be nice but not necessary. Over the ear would be a must. As far as sound signature goes, neutral to slightly warm would be preferable. Durability is a must have. I thought that the German Maestro's would be the answer but I never received mine & MD gave me a refund. Maybe the next go round........
Currently on my short list for purchase are: Beyerdynamic DT-1770 Pro Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Ebony
I would love to see Massdrop do a collaboration with Sennheiser on a closed back 58X or 6XX.

If you get the DT 1770 Pro all other closed backs will be paltry and pallid things in comparison.
I loved my Sony WH1000XM2's and Philips Uptowns, but once I go the 1770s I have barely touched them except for purely commuting duties.

I forgot to add what I am currently using in the closed back arena! I have 4 closed backs, 3 of which are Bluetooth.
Sennheiser HD 25 - Over 25yo. Old faithful. New ear pads & a new cable with inline remote. They still sound good but don't have a lot of extension on either end of the range.
JBL E55BT Quincy Edition - These are good traveling companions with a warm tilt. Think of a cheap tube amp. They do nothing great but nothing bad either & are fairly rugged. A fun sounding headphone w/o the ultimate level in detail. Good passive isolation.
B&O H7 - Gorgeous with excellent sound. I love the detail it provides in the upper midrange & treble. Good bass that's quick & tight. If I'm being hyper critical, it's V-shaped sound signature can make the midrange sound slightly recessed depending on material. Poor passive isolation. Almost like wearing open backs. Excellent build. Software is lacking.
Sennheiser PXC 550 - These are my favorite. Good all-rounders that are foldable & do most things extremely well. The bass is warmed up a bit but that's a good thing. They have a very good soundstage & presentation. You might find yourself dancing if you're not careful! Noise isolation is active & while it's not considered to be the best, it's the least offensive to my ears. I tend to be sensitive to active noise isolation artifacts in a negative way. My only negatives are physical. They could use bigger ear cups, less plastic & the turning of the right cup as the on/off switch, while novel, does not incur belief in long term reliability.

UPDATE: I've been living with the German Maestro GMP 8.35 Mobile headphones for 2 months now. I really love, love, love these headphones. Their sound signature is very studio-like. If you love the sound of Sennheiser's, you'll love these. Great travel companions for those that want a tough, durable pair of headphones. What they have done is allow me to make my next purchase of closed end cans a high-end one & my last. The Focal Elegia is probably now on the top of my list.

Massdrop Version of Sennheiser HD 25?
Has anyone at Massdrop thought about creating a collaborative version of the Sennheiser HD 25? Team members could confect a dark blue plastic model, or finesse and fine-tune the HD 25 Aluminum (not the Amperior; I'm talking about the proper HD 25 with fully detachable cable, etc.). Comparison review king |Joker| of TheHeadphoneList gives the HD 25-1 his highest rating (http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone-review/sennheiser-hd25-1-ii/). I once spoke with him about his background as an audio engineer because I'm an old-time studio musician who has found that the HD 25-1 might be the only DJ headphone that can be used in studios for basics and overdubs. |Joker| seemed to agree. I'm always recommending versions of the HD 25 to friends. It would be nice if I could bring those friends to Massdrop on the strength of a special edition with a reasonable price.

Canadian Massdrop.ca
I am tired of import taxes every time I participate in a drop. I don't mind paying the actual price of products in USD even with the Canadian dollar doing so bad. I was wondering if there is any chance of a Canadian branch ever opening up so drops can be mailed quicker and import taxes wouldn't apply. I know there are a lot of Canadian customers who would appreciate this as well. Something similar to what Amazon.ca does. *BTW Check out The Next Best Thing Studio on youtube. Do me a favor and support a fellow Canadian ;)* http://Youtube.com/nextbestthingstudio

THX AAA Speaker Amp?
The THX AAA 789 headphone amp seems to be a big success thus far, but has there been any thought about developing a speaker amp using the same technology for Massdrop? Benchmark has the AHB2 that uses the THX AAA tech in a speaker amp, and it’s received rave reviews, but it’s pretty dang expensive. Any chance on a Massdrop collaboration or design that could offer that kind of performance for a more wallet-friendly price?

Massdrop x HIFIMAN HE4XX Planar Magnetic Headphones issue with right ear peice
i have had hifiman he4xx headphones for about a month that i got from massdrop. Recently i quickly took the wires out of the left/right ear pieces (which is fine to do on these) as the right one was sticking out a little. When i tried to place the right one back in it does not stay, there is a small metal ring that comes out but it is different to the one on the left earpiece which plugs in perfectly. This has caused it to always fall out and there is no sound coming out of the right ear. there is no way a part fell out as i have looked everywhere in the place it happened. anyone know what do to? thanks

Do i need an AMP and a DAC to run the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO - 250 Ohm??
New to the high end scene, my question is simple, do i need both an AMP and a DAC to run these? I allready bought the "MASSDROP OBJECTIVE 2 HEADPHONE AMP: DESKTOP EDITION" but is that enough?

Please educate and recommend
I'm mainly a gamer and after much consideration I've decided I want to replace my soundblasterx g5. I've had many complaints of keyboard noise while playing and have tried everything I can think of to minimize/negate it but no no avail. As part of my search I found some noise reduction features in the soundblasterx g6 but if I'm going to be spending $150 for one I figured I might as well ask around to see if a better solution could be found for around the same price. I would prefer an all in one solution if possible to pair with my Sennheiser GSP600 at least until I'm ready for an upgrade there as well. Any recommendations are welcome but please provide a case as to why it's better, I would like to use this as a chance to learn more about the audiophile space and what makes a particular solution better. Edit: I should have mentioned that I've noticed that my friends are able to hear things in games that I can not and I suspect this is due to some sort of processing in my g5. Any...
