Sony should do a Massdrop edition MDR-R10 bass heavy (MDR-Rxx?) for maybe $1,000.
RhamnetinThis is a great proposal, however I don't think Sony would go out of their way to work with Massdrop. If they do decide to make a successor to the R10 they'd probably just mark it up as much as they can and sell direct, 'cause they know people would be willing to pay top-dollar for it.

RhamnetinThere will be no re-release of MDR-R10. I asked Sony about it, hoping to start the ball rolling, but they said this chapter in their manufacturing history is closed for good.

sszorinOh well. I bet ZMF's closed back biocellulose driver headphones like the Eikon beat it anyway. I haven't had the most impressive experiences with vintage audio.

RhamnetinEikon are good headhones but not on the level of MDR-R10. https://www.innerfidelity.com/content/zmf-eikon-sealed-around-ear-headphones You can forget about ever acquiring MDR-R10, they are prohibitively expensive and they are only for an occasional listening. They are more or less an item for collectors. Their biocellulose diaphragm is made of an organic material and so these headphones must be stored at an optimal temperature and air dryness so that the diaphragm does not decay. [Sony does not provide spare parts for MDR-R10 anymore]. Are you looking for open or for closed headphones ? And those with a 'budget' price [around 500 USD] or can you spend more to get to the top floor of audio quality ?
