Looking for dolby atmos and related format support either as all in one powered or ability to decode the required channels and hook up external amplifiers. High quality amplifiers and brand names like Denon, Yamaha. Connected receivers to stream audio and video to them from our mobile devices and home servers. 4K dolby atmos and other supported relevant video formats.

When I make an entertainment purchase, I'm looking for the bleeding edge tech. With the way companies are constantly evolving and coming out with new features, I'm trying to get something that will keep me with the times for as long as possible. I also shoot for performance per dollar, you can really run into some diminishing returns once you start getting into the upper end. Great example would be the Andrew Jones Pioneer Elite system I've seen here. It's an incredible setup for the money, sure there's better, but you can easily end up spending quite a bit more to get it. With receivers, multiple inputs, 4k pass through and upscaling, Atmos/DTS:X. Again here, bleeding edge and performance per dollar, Pioneer, Denon, Sony are all solid.

I have the NAD M17. It is the last receiver I will ever buy. Not just because of NAD modular upgradability. But because I’ve got maybe another 20 or 30 years left on this planet and even when/if technology outstrips the capabilities of my M17, I’m just going to go ahead and keep using it anyways.

NAD were/are the best performance/value followed by Adcom in my opinion. I just purchased a Yamaha Receiver refurb from Massdrop - paired to an NAD PA driving CSW subs... and I am thrilled so far... although it is a complex beast!

Cambridge Sound Works were the best value performance sat/sub speakers ever conceived... in my opinion. Henry Kloss design and they sounded incredible. Wish there was a Cambridge Sound Works Dolby 7 Atmos setup...
