Another thought. Perhaps Massdrop would commission a $300-400 AV receiver of roughly 60 Watts continuous per channel that has low frequency management, HDMI inputs for the latest devices, and analog 5.1 inputs for older devices. Currently one has to pay more than twice that to get both kinds of inputs (though Amazon has had a Marantz unit on sale for 600 recently). Since AV units are including lots of stereo analog inputs, it can't be very much more expensive to include a set of 5.1 inputs.
