brass plates are typically known to lean more towards the "ping-y" side when typing due to the fact it's a solid metal plate. On the contrary, polycarbonate plates are somewhat more muted and carry vibrations in a different way compared to a brass plate. Many people like using polycarbonate plates because they're really useful in trying to create a "thocky" typing sound. If you select both, you can switch between the two plates as you wish. The typing feel is slightly different between the two as well.
