Small utility knife.

This is my project thread for the small utility knife aka SUK. The specs are 4mm thick, 6” in length,1.2” wide at the grip, 2.3” cutting length And under 50 oz weight. Steel CPMS35VN.

It’s a skeleton used design meant for filed use. Easy to clean up, light and meant to be a necker. The bevels are 10” radius Hollow ground. The knife will be cerakote painted to ensure minimal rusting while in the field.

This is a mid tech production with the bevels hand ground. The above two pics are the fixture plate setup on the mill. Side A and side B setup is done by just flipping the fixture and zeroing the mill to the centre square.

This is the first of 3 blades ready for the next stage, pre heat treat grinding. I’ll post pics of the finished product when it’s ready.

A suggestion from a prybar junkie..... tip of the belly - the point of knife to the top any possibility of a pry ???

TheoMKNUsually on a blade u wont want it to be a pry. If it’s a pry with an edge on it would different. But for a knife the tip is uauslly very thin to support lateral force.

My grail knife would be something fixed blade...or spring assisted folding..drop point, 154CM full Tang, lanyard hole blood Groove. I spent a few hundred dollars on a single knife. For the right components the blades price will be justified.

Are you serious. In getting a bit of flack for the name. some of my mates and clients dont see the funny side of the name. Like joker said why so serious.

Could be wrong, but I am pretty sure I have seen a knife called the SUK.
