it's outdated now but here's my album of PC + setup. I'll eventually update it with my newest config and probably current headphone lineup, but currently too lazy haha: http://imgur.com/a/5aYtY

EinTheVarianceDUDE you're just the guy I need to talk to. I have a massive dome and I need advice on my first real pair of cans...
Do you suggest the HD600s, HD598s, ATH m50xs? I need something that will fit a large dome and completely fit my ears inside.

EinTheVarianceTo clarify, comfort and size are of utmost importance. I am thinking the Sennheisers are my goto though I do love a flat sound profile. My JBL 305 studio monitors sound amazing to me.
I would go with the ATH m50xs but I kinda want to go all out.

bmilcsThe M50x will not completely fit your ears inside if your ears are fairly big. I use them with the HM5 pads, the stock pads are too small to be comfortable.
Are you looking for a pair for home or outside? Keep in mind that unlike the M50x, the HD600 and the HD598 are open back and will leak sound. Also, the HD 600 will need an amp to power as it is 300 ohms. In terms of comfort between the three you have listed: HD 598 > M50x with HM5 pads > HD 600 > M50x with stock pads
The HD 600 will most likely completely fit your ears, but the problem is that headphone is really clampy/tight. The HD 598 on the other hand has almost no clamp and has a giant space for your ears on the cups. the M50x is somewhat clampy but not as bad as the HD 600 and you can stretch the headband on that one. In terms of sound quality though, the HD 600 completely outclasses the other 2 (need an amp though). If flat is what you want, the HD 600 would be the go to. The HD 598 and the M50x are both warmer pairs.
With that said, out of all the headphones I have, the most comfortable by far is the K7XX. Although the cups are round, the pads are super thick memory foam and the inner circumference of the pads are large so your ears should fit inside without any issues. The headband system also makes the headphones float on your head as opposed to even the HD 598 where the thick, puffy headband tends to press against my head and cause a bit of discomfort. Although the HD 600 is slightly better in resolving some details on the highs, I find myself using the K7XX much more over anything else at home as the comfort is just unmatched. The K7XX is a warmer pair though, closer to the HD 598 sound signature (but an upgrade) over the HD 600. If you want a flatter sound, consider the K712. Like the HD 600, the K7XX/K712 are open back and need an amp to power properly.

EinTheVarianceWell sir you are a great help! I am currently running my studio monitors through my Focusrite 2i2. I imagine this will be enough power for the volume level I plan to use these on... if not, I can always grab an amp.
I've heard from others K7XX are unparalleled in comfort. Where can you get these nowadays?

EinTheVarianceHow would you compare the K712s to the HD600s?

bmilcsthe K7XX is Massdrop exclusive. It isn't up right now as the black version's drop has just ended, but the black and red versions basically alternate continuously on here. I'm sure one of them will be back up within a week or so. Otherwise, you can also get the K712 which uses the same pads.
I do have a discord but I'm currently at work. I'll add you once I get home.

bmilcsI've added you on Discord if you want to discuss further as this thread probably isn't the best place to discuss this (Massdrop needs a PM system).
In regards to the K712 vs the HD 600, I'd say the K712 is more airy whereas the HD 600 is a bit more warm (but not nearly as warm as the HD 598/ M50x / K7XX). The HD 600 has a more engaging mids but is lacking in terms of soundstage compared to the K712. The differences between the two are more sound signature differences rather than one being better than the other really. You can't go wrong with either but the K712 will be more comfortable for sure. As for whether your Scarlet will power it, you'd just have to try I suppose. Focusrite didn't really publish detailed specs of the headphone amp as far as I can tell.
