I'm a bit puzzled by the Keyboard Club's silence for an extended period of time now. I believe the last update on the sets that Drop is working on was sometime in October and for Q1 there's still no updates. Maybe I'm inpatient, but when I signed up for the KCK I was hoping for it to be an opportunity to get more insights into what is being worked on and maybe get a sneak peek every once in a while. The pages for the pre-releases and the exclusives are still as empty as they were three months ago and not a whole lot other seems to be happening. And while I seem to be getting a large amount of Drop mails for audio products that I can't remember signing up for, the KBC newsletter seems to hit my inbox rather sporadically.
MX switches don't fit exactly in a Drop + OLKB Planck keyboard
I bought a Drop + OLKB Planck Mechanical Keyboard Kit V6 and a Gateron SMD MX Mechanical Switch Pack (Clear). However I discovered that the pins don't exactly fit into the two holes per switch of the PCB. The two pins are spaced a little bit (about 1 mm) too far from each other and one of them is a bit too far (about 1 mm) to the front. The guide just says «Place MX-compatible switches into the plate. Ensure pins on each switch are aligned with the corresponding switch socket before pressing a switch onto the plate to avoid damaging the switch or PCB.» For one switch I managed to bend the pins a little bit and it worked, i. e. after I seated the switch I could get a keypress. However it was very difficult to find the exact amount and direction of the bend. I don't think I can manage to seat 47 switches this way. I destroyed four switches before I was successful with the one switch. Is something wrong with my delivery? Are the Gateron MX switches incompatible?
Hello all, I've developed an interest in mechanical keyboards and over the past few years have acquired a three Drop CTRLs and one Drop ALT. I've also acquired a few sets of switches and keycaps. Between these four and other "conventional" soldered keyboards I have the following switches: Cherry Blue Cherry Brown Cherry Silent Red (lubed - so silent) Holy Pandas (lubed and not lubed) I've also got a set of Novelkeys Sherbets on the way. I'm trying to decide what are some additional switches that would be fun to play with. I even purchased the KBDFans switch tester with 72 switches, but most of those are the older more traditional ones. What switches does the community recommend to play around with? All thoughts (and reasons) are welcome. Izkiel
I'm sorry if this question has been asked but I've searched and couldn't find it. If there is already a thread on this then feel free to hit me over the head with it. Is there any interest in having MT3 keycaps made as a shine through set? The color isn't as important to me since I'm in the camp of having a keyboard for coding/work, not for showing off but I /love/ the MT3 profile coupled with a Boba U4T switch. However, I would also like the LEDs to shine through for clearer layer switching. Is this even possible with MT3? Thoughts?
