I will only buy a rechargeable headlamp, lumen output and variance is important, needs a red light, lightweight. So far, my favorite has been Petzl Reactik because of the auto-adjust feature, which adjusts the brightness of the light based on the lighting conditions of where you're looking. I was disappointed we didn't get enough people on the last drop for those.

The Hornet Pocket Knife - Massdrop Worthy?
Hey Massdrop community, My name is Shan , with Tepe Designs. I wanted to test the water and see if the community would like to see my design offered via Massdrop. Therefore, I need your help so that the team here can make a sound decision on whether or not to consider this a viable offering. I am working on getting first production done now via Kickstarter, however, I would like to see the Hornet offered to a much larger following. The knife is being made by HE Knives in Guangdong province, (same place as Kizer, WE and Reate etc..). They have 20+ yrs experience and have worked on projects for other manufactures like Kershaw and Buck. Rest assured, they do excellent work and I wouldn't have spent the last 18 months preparing this with them for a poorly made product. Ultimately, I like to offer up one or more versions of the Hornet as follows: 1. D2 steel / black or orange G-10 handles 2. N690 steel / full Ti handles I leave it to you all, the Massdrop community, to decide if...

Anyone else wanting the solid titanium Zippo to be remade?
From what I could find, the model 110 Solid Titanium Zippo was part of their "Pure" and "Precious Metals" line-up from 2001 to 2006, and at the time, retailed for around $100 (think the price of Ti has come down since then, though Chinese outer sleeve replicas still sell for around $120). Would love to just buy an original from that period, but due to it now being a collectible, they rarely go up for sale, and even used ones seem to sell for at least a few hundred dollars. At the time they were available, I don't recall ever hearing about them. Was just wondering if this is something others here were interested in, and if so, would it be something that Massdrop could maybe sway Zippo into remaking? I asked Zippo's customer relations if they could possibly suggest reintroducing it in the future (now that Ti has grown in popularity vs 17 years ago), but only got "at this time, we are not aware of this lighter being produced again." Personally think this would slot in nicely under...

Put / take spinning top?
Most spinning tops I've seen here seem to be pretty plain. Any interest or thoughts on something more vintage looking or engaging? [image]

Can we talk about knives?
I went through all the products available in EDC right now. ~65% of the category of EDC is knives or knife related products. What's worse is that most of the other categories only have one or two products each. I like knives as much as the next guy so I would be thrilled to have them in their own category. However they seems to be overshadowing the other products. [image]

Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Rebuild (G-10, ZDP-189)
How it started: a FRN Dragonfly 2 with British Racing Green scales and ZDP-189 steel. [image] Broken down: [image] This is a Seki City build. They fuse the two scales together, I didn't bother separating them -- I just extracted the contents. I picked up some Allen Putmans in jade G-10, and goosed the color with a little neon green dye. Starting replacement: [image] So, quite like the Delica/Endura/Native. Well, if it ain't broke, don't fix it I suppose. This setup does work. Unlike the Delica and Endura but like the Native this is another washerless knife, which explains why it can't be easily flipped open one handed in the traditional manner. [image] ZDP-189 is a super steel with extreme high hardness, made by Hitachi, with no Western equivalents. Takes an unholy edge. It's brittle, is the issue -- so not a work steel unless you clad it with something more rugged. But for something like a Dragonfly, a little scalpel of a knife, it's an excellent choice, which is why I...

Trainers
For reference: on the left is the Benchmade Greg Thompson SOCP. From the top down are the Fox 479TK, the Benchmade 551T, a Kershaw Emerson 6034 trainer with aftermarket modifications, and a Boker Plus Balisong Trainer. [image] Why the Swiss Cheese look? Trainer knives, when properly made, have the exact same shape and weight as the regular knife, but the blade can't have an edge, even an unsharpened one. Because blade blanks that haven't been ground down or sharpened weigh more than ones that have, manufacturers mill speed holes in the blade to give the blade the proper weight and distribution. Often a different steel is used, particularly for knives with high end steel -- good ol' 420 stainless will do you just fine for a training knife, so long as it's milled to have the correct weighting and edge dimensions. The overall idea is to make the training knife exactly the same in the hand as the edged version. Not close, but dead on. Most are red, the better to identify them as...
