Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I'm currently looking for an end game ( I hope! ) can which for me is going to be sub $1000. The Elear and LCD2C both are somewhat controversial in that there seems to be a love / hate thing with some reviewers. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Aeon Flow Closed at this point. I just can't drop almost a grand on a new product that hasn't been reviewed yet and won't ship for months like the new Ether CX. Not saying I won't get them at some point especially if they turn out to be amazing but I just can't spend that much money on an unknown.
Currently got HD 598 ( gaming ), HD600, HD650, TH-X00 Mahogany and TH-X00 Ebony. The Ebony is my favorite and handles everything I listen to. I'm hoping the Aeon Flow Closed will be like the Ebony and a good all arounder for me. I got some M1060s for cheap about a month ago but I had to return them. I liked some of what they did but I couldn't get around the metallic sounding mids. They were good enough to make me want good planars though.
Stupid expensive damn hobby. lol
On a side note, would you mind helping me on something? I currently got TH-X00 Mahogany used for $400 CAD (about $310 USD), and I've been hearing everyone says Ebony is a lot better. But I can't find any used TH-X00 Ebony so if I buy it brand new we'll be looking at close to $700 CAD ($535 USD).
So the dilemma is that in my situation is the Ebony gonna be worth it considering I might have to pay almost double the price of my Mahogany? Or would you say it's close enough that I should just be happy with the Mahogany? OR if I'm gonna spend $700 I might well save up more and just go the next tier up (similar to your situation)?
The Ebony makes MY ears very, very happy. So much that the Mahogany barely gets any head time anymore since I got them. I really should sell them but I loved them before I got the Ebony. I go roughly 50% HD600/650 and 50% Ebony for music. To ME $535 US would be a big yes.
The Mahogany has more of a bassy signature and maybe slightly more sparkle in the top end and if I only listened to EDM ( or rap/hip hop which I really don't listen to at all) then the Mahogany would be completely satisfying. However the Ebony is way more neutral. It's not neutral but it's way more neutral than the Mahogany. And the Ebony just has a rich, warm tonality that I absolutely love. I even prefer them for stuff like Agnes Obel, Lana Del Rey and London Grammar where you'd think the Sennheisers would have a huge edge.
If you haven't, check out Metal571's review. My opinion about them basically mirrors what he says in his review.
Talk about indecisiveness, I've also own the Denon AH-D2000 first, then E-Mu Teak but somehow I wasn't fully happy with it then I got the TH-X00 Mahogany and was quite enjoying it until I find out about the Ebony LOL.
Oh also I want to make a correction, it seems like ZMF Atticus would be closer in sound signature to the HD650 and TH-X00 Ebony, I think Eikon is the more neutral one.
Thanks again for the feedback!
Do you know if Ebony has a wider soundstage?
