Unlike Canon that never looks back the Nikon F mount allows me to use old but perfectly good lenses on my newest digital Nikon. My 1973 Nikon catadioptric 500 mm lens for example - no longer made - takes beautiful pictures with my D600. With Canon you are just out of luck. Nikon F forever.

BruceHI second that Bruce. I switched from Nikon to Pentax a couple of years ago. While not as old, the Pentax "K Mount" is now 40 years old! It's nice to know that all of my Pentax glass, whether DA , DA Limited or my FA Limited's will also work on the upcoming K-1 full frame due this spring.

rb82414Another Pentax fan here: 1) I have K10, K20, K7, and K3 DSLRS, and Pentax 67II medium format lenses. Look forward top the K-1 and full frame. Glass is excellent, and the lenses I use the most are the fully weather sealed DA* lenses. I have old Nikon 35mm equipment--2 FE bodies and an N70. They are seldom used, as I just don't shoot 35mm film anymore. After about 10,000 digital images I am going back to shooting film. Medium format with the Pentax 67II and 4x5 with a Shen-Hao. For a landscape/garden photographer, I find that digital capture "flattens out" the very three-dimensional landscape
