cpus without ECC are garbage and belong in the trash bin, no intel xeon's are listed so had to vote for AMD.
Note on "Intel vulnerability": amd has an equivalent to Intel ME and the boards don't enable disabling it so they are literally 100% just as insecure.
Guys, please consider the newly released information about Intel processor vulnerabilities.
I would much rather see the AMD chips come up for drop.

Tired of ignorant shills spreading misinformation. If you want security, abolish DRM and copyright (which is the only real usage for these on-chip hidden OSes). Intel vs amd has nothing to do with it, both do the same sh!t and there is market demand for it to be forced onto consumers. Disabling it will probably result in inability to watch Netflix lol...glad I pirate everything.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The vulnerability affects all processors and the fix for it has been bricking amd processors.
Benchmarks are proving the 8th gen coffeelake cpu’s are delivering the performance for gaming and hi-end computing at a good price point. The short supply is the issue
If they would really make this happen, they better offer a better price than microcenter. Microcenter always have the lowest price for processors.
If this were gaming, I'd say vote for the 8700k and 1700x. 8700k will get you max gaming performance, but 1700x will get you much cheaper gaming performance (and 2 more cores to play with).
But, this is HEDT which are better suited for better scaling tasks like high-rez video and photo editing, programming/compiling, VM hosting and the likes. Stuff that scales super well with more cores rather than more IPC (gaming), so the only choices that would make sense to me here are the Threadrippers and the 7900x.
I feel this Poll is a bit to general in its question. But my vote is for Ryzen Threadripper Due to its high core count quad channel DDR4 and great I/O support with 64 PCI express lanes. These factors give you an extremely flexible processor for a good price
Entirely depends what for tbh. Content creation, obviously the i9 or Threadripper would outperform the i7, but in something like gaming, a higher clock speed would matter more than cores.

HEDT (High end desktop, what this poll is for) are generally workstations for editing, programming, multiple VMs at home, etc. I use mine for gaming on the side, but I'm totally fine getting 10% less frames off my game using the 1950x over the 7900x just for the sheer price/core difference alone that are infinitely more useful in my VM uses.
Running a 1920X currently. Using mostly for gaming, mining, work (light loads), and occasional video creation. Running on triple 4k screens with a 1080Ti. Once you get to 4k, CPU matters so much less than at 1080p. I voted Threadripper here, but any new platform will serve you well right now, just a question of what's the best. High FPS gaming? 8700k, 7700k, 8600k, with i9's coming next. Content creation? Cores are usually more important than clocks but not by a lot (and depends on what apps your using), so really a question of budget as to what will serve you best. Only have a few hundred dollars to spend on CPU and Mobo? Go with AM4 or z370 if your app really likes clocks more than anything, have several hundred to spend? Threadripper or the i9 lineup if your okay getting only 2/3 cores at a few hundred mhz more clock speed at similar pricing.
Why on earth is the 9590 on here? That was only relevant like 7 years ago! And is going for $125 on Amazon.
in needs to be less than $880 like ~$750

Yes, it would! Thanks for the tip, I'll take a look. In that case, it should be even cheaper here. 600 or less, maybe??

Exactly
are those votes going to create a drop as well?
By what metrics and for what purpose? Results for gaming, for instance, would be far different than for 3D content creation & rendering...

Why in the world would you get an HEDT CPU for gaming?

If you can throw money away and aren't delusional about more cores making a difference in gaming why not? You never know he might be editing/streaming high res video or extensively using photoshop.
Not a good investment though.
