Running a 1920X currently. Using mostly for gaming, mining, work (light loads), and occasional video creation. Running on triple 4k screens with a 1080Ti. Once you get to 4k, CPU matters so much less than at 1080p. I voted Threadripper here, but any new platform will serve you well right now, just a question of what's the best. High FPS gaming? 8700k, 7700k, 8600k, with i9's coming next. Content creation? Cores are usually more important than clocks but not by a lot (and depends on what apps your using), so really a question of budget as to what will serve you best. Only have a few hundred dollars to spend on CPU and Mobo? Go with AM4 or z370 if your app really likes clocks more than anything, have several hundred to spend? Threadripper or the i9 lineup if your okay getting only 2/3 cores at a few hundred mhz more clock speed at similar pricing.
