I have a 960 PRO on my desktop gaming computer. It is really amazing how fast it boots to windows, about 5-8 seconds and opens up my Linux Mint VM, about 5-8 seconds as well.

According the the specs listed, the 17R4 ships with a M.2 SSD NVMe PCIe Gen3 X4 SK Hynix 512gb, so while yes you could technically swap it for one of the Samsung 960 EVO drives, you won't see much improvement in gaming performance. If you use your machine for data-transfer heavy tasks like rendering you would gain some performance.
So if you want a larger drive and buy for that reason, yes it should work, but if you're considering it for performance (particularly for gaming), it's not really worth the cost. You'd maybe be getting a couple more seconds faster boot and load times. Maybe.

My laptop has 2 m.2 ssd slots, that was why I was thinking of purchasing the SSD. However, I found a great offer on Amazon about 2 months ago. I am glad with the performance. So that is a great option for those who would like to purchase an SSD for a laptop with 2 SSD bays.
