I would recommend against the Logitech headset here, they have fatal flaw in the design. That 'plate' should be made out of metal and not plastic, over time pressure from the earcups (the balljoint is under that plastic 'plate' ) makes the plastic crack and eventually break, once it breaks there isn't anything holding the earcup in place.

Obviously mine broke outside of the warranty period, but this is just a poor design and cutting the wrong corners by using plastic for that piece. The 7.1 aspect of the headset was in name only, I've had a proper 7.1 set-up before and it just doesn't work when you try to pack that into a headset, you will likely not notice a difference. Edit: My post talks about wired G35 but they wireless variant likely shares the flaw.

DoubleMAbout the G930 breaking, mine did break after just about 1 year of use but they replaced it with a new pair. The new pair has lasted me about a year and a half without breaking, no sign of even a crack yet. So maybe they fixed it at some point, or maybe it will break eventually, but it doesn't seem like a huge problem.

I think the G930 is a great deal. The sound quality is good, wireless range is good, battery lasts all day, but the surround sound is crap. Just disable surround sound and everything is fine.

I would be interested in the Skullcandy PLYR 1 though. Initial reviews look good. Don't really care about the Skullcandy brand, but if it reviews well its fine with me.

sircodI think for gaming purposes, decent surround sound would be desirable.

sircod@sircod: I've only had my set of G930s for 2 weeks but the surround seems reasonably good to me, at least in that you can detect the difference between the 7 channels and a correction for Linux support, the G keys do work (they come through as standard media play/next/previous) but the logitech software is not supported.

koorigashiI will have to disagree with you on that point. I had a pair of Tritton Pro's a couple years back and the surround sound out of that headset was the real deal. I could hear people crawling around corners in BF3, and hear tanks coming up behind me without having to turn around.

NinhalemYou can do that fine on stereo headphones. What matters is the mixamp.

Read up here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-9-2-2013-sony-ma900-added

koorigashikoorigashi is correct. I started typing a response, which got longer and longer until eventually I decided to just write an entire blog post (http://goo.gl/CneheF).

tl;dr - Multiple drivers are garbage. Get one with Dolby Headphone, CMSS-3D, or THX TruStudio Surround.
