I would never choose a 1.5v AA or AAA for EDC. The light on our phones can fill that role. I like the 3.7v CR123A which produces 3x the output. A small solarforce z1 is my preference @ 320lm for EDC. But I really like the ones that accept a wide variety of battery, like the sunwayman V11R which has a short duration turbo mode of 750 lumens.
