While Aeron chairs are comfortable, be warned that the mesh does tend to ruin pants. A bank I worked with threw out theirs when the mesh caused custom made suites to be damaged very quickly. For home use with casual pants they would be great but in a professional space I would look at other options.
Personally I do have a DX Racer as my gaming chair. It was a gift from my wife and would not have been my first choice. It is very firm, more firm than I would normally have selected. Surprisingly, the firmness makes it quite comfortable for long gaming sessions. We also have a Clutch chair in the house. While it has similar styling to the DX Racer chairs it is softer which I find less comfortable.

BCampbellWhat causes damage is people having delicate pants with something in the back pocket that causes it to rub. Two easy fixes are: 1) Take out the big wallet or cell phone from your back pocket when you sit down for a while, or 2) Lay a light towel on the chair. This a problem with most such mesh chairs that are not pillow bottom, but the benefits outweigh the workaround. Aeron's are great chairs.

MD-DI can assure you people who spend thousands of dollars on a suit do not sit with a wallet in their back pockets. I'm just sharing this experience and it would seem that based on your response with work-arounds that you would agree this is something of concern. The primary location of pant wear was on the leading edge of the seat but people who moved more in their chair (sliding, shifting, fidgeting, etc) had wear in all areas where the pants touched the seat. I never had an issue with pant wear but as I was a consultant on an as-needed basis I did not sit in the chair full-time.
I liked the chair, it was comfortable and I've often thought about getting one for home use. Its ability to breath and allow airflow was fantastic (really wish I had one in my gaming room during the Summer with 2 high-heat PCs running) but if you are wearing pants that may be susceptible to wear or have a high replacement value I think a warning is in order. I would agree that this same risk likely exists with all mesh seat chairs but I can only share my experience with the Aeron chairs. Take the information and use it as you will. If pant wear isn't an issue for you, they are a fantastic chair.

BCampbellOH MY GOODNESS YES! I have lost SO many butt buttons to these freaking chairs it is unreal, me and my coworkers both! In that regard, they are the absolute WORST. And yea, cross legged doesn't work so well.

MD-DSorry, it isn't about 'delicate' pants or not. Everyone at my office in my department is well aware of the sensation that is this chair stealing your butt buttons, and none of us are holding wallets in our back pocket while sitting at a desk all day at work. It's screwed up about 4 pairs of my own pants and at least two pairs of my neighbors, and when it happens, it's announced with a weary sigh of 'another one bites the dust'.
Outside of that, these chairs are quite fantastic, and fairly easy to sit in for hours, and the ventilation is quite nice, especially as I'm typically overly warm.
