Negative, Ghostrider.
Great discussion, I would view this knife as more of a curio for collectors. It obviously has a very specific design and purpose which is not my intention to debate. For most responsible persons it would be impractical to carry and would not be useful for general field tasks either. However, as a collector it may be a very desirable knife especially if it could be acquired at a good price and that is why I am here in the first place. Other folks that have a collection obsession will understand. Why deny someone the joy their avocation brings them based on subjective opinions? Isn't this a site for enthusiasts?
these knives are complete garbage, just read online reviews. I wouldn't pay 2 cents for one.

Garbage and the design has a horrific origin.
And it's garbage that can't actually perform any work at all other than punching big gnarly holes in things.
Maybe if you need to punch out a drain hole in a reservoir this would be ideal.
Buncha babies over here. If I wanna buy a $1000 titanium tool of death to hang on the wall of my safe, that's my option and (unless local laws say otherwise) my right.
"Don't drop it, people will murder people!" Yeah, okay.... That's not happening already?
This isn't some invisibility cloak that's gonna mask the identity of a criminal or otherwise make it easier to get away with killing someone. In fact, if you are all correct about the ridiculous wound channel this thing creates, it should be easier to pin a murder on someone who uses this tool.

I've always been under the impression that these are sort of a Nazi replica weapon built to high manufacturing standards. The kind of thing that doesn't need to be advertised.

Wow, pulling out the Nazi card? That's original...
Just to get that out of the way, you're factually wrong. Nothing about this item is based on or even inspired by any item used by the Nazis. It's named after an Austrian special forces unit that wasn't even founded until 1962.
Second of all, why not just vote with your dollars? Why should your decision that you don't like the item a reasonable barrier to others purchasing it? If Massdrop drops the item and it's truly "not compatible with the community" people won't buy it, they won't drop it again. It's free market economics.. Not difficult.
the smaller one is less deadly, the samller one is more for show and shits and giggles, the bigger one is a murder weapon.
As much as i would like to buy this, It does look Cool, huge price tag, this is not for a civilian or even military usage, This is an item i would truly like on here, but morally would not. Along with other commenters', this needs to not be on here. If Massdrop introduces military grade items/weapons, Then it needs to start selling guns (Vector/1911 if they do please), But seriously this is too much of a special knife for any one to own.
If you are a soldier these knives are a war crime, these have no use outside of killing. of course since these are knives these are unlikely to make it trough customs to my country but even if they did the specifics of these knives would make them highly illegal even for a civilian to own.
I think the best option here is for neither to be a drop.

That's your country...they are illegal to use in WAR which, if used would be a war crime. Owning it isn't illegal in most locations, such as the USA (minus California of course) there wouldn't be a law or regulation of owning it. Nothing wrong with having it as a collector. If this knife is placed on the "neither" or "don't drop this item" then what makes any other blade any different? Every knife on here can kill someone. It depends on the person who owns or is purchasing the blade. Be realistic here.
Nobody should own this
Adding to these previous points this knife is quite useless outside of maiming someone. So short of being a prop this knifes only other intended purpose is to kill someone. Heck that being said in a knife fight this weapon is really only effective if you have the element of surprise...

This knife will not maim someone, it will kill them. Hit the femoral artery and a team of surgeons couldn't save you. I believe this was designed for some Austrian operators. Sentry elimination fad. Element of surprise implied. Kidney from behind and bleed out in maybe 20 seconds. Pain so intense that it is not possible to make a noise; not enough time to do anything but die. War crimes are of little concern in a deniable operation. The only reason we're voting on this is that there are enough people in the community demanding it. I'm sorry to be so dark but this is the apex predator of purpose-built murder tools. I am older and wiser now but, sadly, am familiar with tools like this. Buy one if you must but lock it away from your kids. (Massdrop, you will not want me to write the product description.)
"Please do not let this actually be a drop. These are not tools or toys, they're purpose built weapons to kill people (like a human Apple corer)" Hit the nail right on the head with that comment.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but arent tri edged weapons illegal by the Geneva Convention? Considering how difficult they are to stitch up and mend.

Nothing in the Hague Accords the true name of the Geneva Convention applies to civilians. Also knives and edged weapons are not mentioned in nor covered by the Hague Accords. Bunch of fucking idiots on here.
All Americans who responsibly carry concealed handguns use hollow points. They aren't only for police they are considered the only round acceptable to use for self defense. The design of a hollow point regardless of what your idiot government officials and TV tells you isn't to create a greater wound it's to make the bullet expand and not over penetrate. If you used a FMJ "Full Metal Jacket" bullet on a human it would likely punch through them and possibly bystanders, or other nearby objects, the hollow point stops in the body. Why can't you use it in war? Even though most countries do so anyway. Because it is technically more lethal than an FMJ round and the point of war is not to kill everyone but to put the enemy out of commission. FMJ bullets are less likely to kill then hollow points, but the hollow point isn't designed to kill. It's a side effect of the design.
