The 100mm f2.8L Macro is a mindblowing good lens.
It's a damn shame it is so big! I end up not using it as often. It's tack sharp, vivid and beautiful. And being a macro you can pretty much focus on anything you can see from the tip of your nose to the horizon. Yes it is a macro, but it works fine as a medium tele.
Speaking of tele, a medium tele, Canon 85mm f1.8 is another good lens. Not as great as the L series, but lighter and more easy to handle. It has a smooth roll off into out of focus areas. Good color and sharpness when stopped down. But a really great portrait lens wide open.
The Olympus M Zuiko, not a Canon lens, and not adaptable even for APSC, as it is a M43 sized lens.
The F1.4 50mm Canon is a kind of odd man out. It's a good lens, but I find it hard to justify the extra expense over the F1.8 MKII. Which now has a reasonable focus ring, and is in most respects just as good.
I got the 50mm sooner in the year, and I think that it is an essential lens, especially to start real photography. It gives the opportunity to try many different kind of photography even with hard conditions
