Aldi has a circulator on sale this week for $49.
The two entries for the Joule should be combined. Is there a way to do that?
Since all of you are interested in the sous-vide machine I would like to recommend this poll for vacuum sealers to get more out of the machine https://www.massdrop.com/vote/Vacuum-Sealers?utm_source=linkshare&referer=VXJ39L
I have been using the Joule for about 6 months, and it has transformed the way I do my weekly meal prep.
I did the Kickstarter for the Sansaire way back in the day, and while I'm still very happy with the product I received it's obvious that the new cookers offer more flexibility for the price. I'm not talking about phone apps and other bells and whistles, but form-factor. My Sansaire is roughly the same size as a blender (Oster, not Vitamix) and the minimum fill line is maybe half way up the body. That limits the containers that I can use it in and expands the amount of water I need for cooking. The Anova and Joule both have smaller footprints and pump configurations that allow for using shorter pans and tubs. It seems like this wouldn't be a big deal, but it means that every time I sous vide it's a big production. I can't just put some asparagus and butter in a zip-lock and toss it in a pot with the cooker. I have to get out the Cambro, put three or four gallons of water in there and wait for all of that to get heated up. If Md can get me a good deal on a replacement, I will take it.
Linus Tech Tips did a review on Joule... And they said it was great... Just saying
I would vote for the Joule in a heartbeat if I had a way to use it. Unfortunately I have a Microsoft phone which I love, and the Joule doesn't have any on device controls, and thus won't work without the app, which is Android or iPhone only. I do have the Anova Bluetooth Sous Vide Cooker and I love it.
I have the Gourmia GSV130, the temps are accurate, the circulation makes a bit of noise. My biggest compliant is the buttons are more of touch screen sensors as opposed to actual buttons. Also finding a pot or container tall enough should be considered, 9inches from inside bottom of container to the top lip would be ideal.
can we get a 220/120 Volt option for those of us outside of the continental United States?

A friend of mine owns the Anova with AU option and can't stop raving on about it. He got it at a great price, which is a big factor with any purchase (kitchen or otherwise).
I personally have a Sansaire and whilst I have owned for a couple of years now, the foot print is a detractor as mentioned above. If definitely means anytime I need to set it up, a big container has to be used and lots of water required for heating. I wished it had iPhone connectivity (like the Anova) and was about 50% smaller.
I have had several, and moreover, I spent my last 10 years working with inmersion circulators. I have no doubt I will stick with the Joule. Well thought and well designed product made in the US.
I have the PolySci, Anova and Joule (I use them in the lab, as well as the kitchen) If I could only have one (for cooking), the Joule, with out a doubt.
I've been looking to add a Sous Vide Cooker to my kitchen for years but they were so boxy and took up so much counter space I just couldn't pull the trigger. These new drop into a pot and plug in are just the trick. Just bought from Amazon the Gourmia GSV130. Happy, happy, happy, Great device. Got it on a lighting deal for $89.99.
Got a Joule two weeks ago. Great device.
Heats up water nearly as fast as the commercial grade immersion circulators.
The app is highly intuitive and easy to follow. It has Amazon Echo support which is great in the kitchen with messy hands.
Only minor gripe is I wish it had some sort of on device controls.
I highly recommend the Joule for either experienced or novice cooks.
I have the Anova Precision Cooker, it is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen, maybe neck and neck with my Vitamix. This thing has revolutionized the way I cook. It makes cooking steak, chicken, turkey, veggies, fruits, etc the most convenient thing ever. All the meat I bring home from the grocery store gets seasoned and vacuum sealed before put in the freezer, when I l'm ready to cook I prepare the Anova Precision Cooker at the perfect temp then I throw in the frozen meat, i come back hours later and it is ready but it is more delicious than i could ever explain...this is the next wave, you have to buy at least one...I'm getting three.
