do not buy EVGA with acx 3.0 cooler. all of them defective. engineering defect. Both VRM and memory modules are not cooled effectively. so even if your GPU temps are in the 50-60s vrm will be in the 90+. i got 2 x evga gaming sc in sli, both are defective and were rma'd. i'm selling both on ebay soon. evga models affected:
SC Gaming SC FTW FTW DT FTW classified
basically every single one with the ACX 3.0 cooler. both 1070 and 1080.
check their forums, they messed up this generation of cards. Funny thing is, EVGA trying to downplay the situation. great company, but did not throughly test this product before beinging into market. they released a new BIOS for the cards, which effectively doubles the NOISE since it blasts the fans way faster. They also providing thermal pads for the VRM. My cards have both fixes applied and now stay cool. but the noise in unbearable. Also, i fear the public will know of this soon and the value of the cards will tank. i'm selling both and getting either gigabyte G1 or asus strix.
