If there were a drop for Opinel, I would be more interested in a limited edition model, or something with a rare-wood handle.
I have three higos and love them, but I feel like a massdrop would be very poor for them. They are handcrafted at a high rate meaning you get a lot of bad ones in with the good ones. it's going to be impossible for massdrop to implement quality control. I have an opinel and can vouch for their quality, and they are an established brand. I also would like to try a douk-douk in the near future, so hopefully people would jump for that.

If you do get a douk douk I would suggest a rust inhibitor

That is very true-- I also love them but QC is spotty, at best.
A while back I picked up a "custom" folder (don't know if it would be considered a true higo no) from a maker named Hiroaki Ohta. BladeHQ had them and may still have a few; they ran as high as $250 but most were $45-60. The blades were D2 and blackened on the spines--looked great.
If a single skilled maker like that could be contracted then a drop might be very cool: individual, handmade pieces at a low price.
I don't know if Mr. Ohta would consider such a thing. The BladeHq guys didn't know a thing about him or his knives, or how BladeHQ came to have a stock. No disrespect to them, btw. They can talk ZT and Benchmade and Microtech all the live long day, because thats what young fellows are most interested in; not so much obscure imported slip joints.
kind of surprised this isn't getting more votes....I would love to add a couple traditional folders to my collection
