before you buy vega, just be aware.. it's a workstation card more than a gaming card. It's way better than Nvidia for that but Nvidia still pulls way ahead in gaming for a better price. I would go with one of the other mass drops on a 1080 or 1080ti if you're looking to get a card for just gaming.

stateofpsychosisVega 56 is a decent card if you can get it at MSRP or better. Outperforms a 1070 stock and can trade blows with a 1080 in some games with some OC'ing and the Vega 64 bios...

MarginalSCthis makes no sense. "with some OC'ing" you compare a Overclocked and firmware modified gpu against a stock non-OC one.

KappawaiiIt does if you try a little and understand that a stock 1080 is still a reliable performance baseline.
Regardless, the point is the Vega 56 can become an extremely capable card with a little free tinkering. (1070ti doesn't really beat it even OC'ed for example.) Given that I'm seeing it actually at the original MSRP on some sites now, it's become quite a good value proposition.
And I'm saying this as someone who is currently using a 1080ti in one system and a 1070 in another.
