okay why am I not seeing a 8700k or 9700k and the difference in gaming performance is only slightly better for the intel chips compared to AMD Ryzen 7 1800x or 2700x, but workstain loads are better on AMD because of the higher core count.
All you have to do is watch this. It is a review of the Ryzen 1800X CPU but it is benched against a lot of others as well. You can go from there as to which you should buy.

as an owner of the r7 1800x it is NOT a better gaming processor than an Intel i7. It is the better DECENT gaming PLUS other things at the same time. Intel cannot touch Ryzen if you mix things at the same time as gaming.
I'd suggest waiting for AMDs (Ry)Zen Processors or even the new Kabylake desktop line of Intel processors. Won't be very long till then and price to performance ratio is bound to improve drastically (hopefully).
Unless your old system broke down there's really no good reason to buy a new processor right now.
