Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. For 3D games, especially first & third person what makes headphones good for gaming is being able to tell which directions sounds are coming from as well as being able to clearly differentiate sounds from each other. To essentially be immersed in the game.
That and open headphones just sound better overall. That's why nearly all of the most expensive headphones are open (with the exception of the Fostex TH-900).
Most gamers don't play games in such a great environment. They usually are at the college, or at home, where there are other people with them and all sorts of noises, which spoils the gaming when you have open headphones. I am not even mentioning crowded lan parties, where open headphones would be just useless...
I am just trying to say, that open headphones are better for few people with dedicated room for gaming in their house, but for majority, closed headphones are better choice, even though they can have slightly worse sound.
you have it backwards.
