Personally I would prefer the V-Moda m100. Besides that it gets good reviews on the audio quality, I like the relative small size, portability and slick design. As an European the V-modas are pretty hard to get for a decent price, so I'm hoping Massdrop would be my savior :).
Suggested the K551 which like all the cans listed here have a fantastic reputation. Closed is good for me, but detail and comfort are super important. They fit me well but no way can I pay MSRP. On the pricing, I looked around today - the MSRP is $330, but when I look at Amazon UK it's only $155 ish - on Amazon US it's $300. I thought it was Americans that didn't like to be taxed!! So MassDrop, let's target $120 and bring in an end of year screamer!
Noticed the Philips X2 are also on the list - had a look at whathifi back in the UK and they love the X1, but in the US I've never been able to see them - which is a problem since buying headphones without trying them on is kind of like betting on a horse that has no form.... bit of a gamble. I'm not fussy, I would risk a try on the X1 if the price were low enough - have to say I've never done wrong by listening to the What Hifi recommendations.
