I own the black box. It works great for a cheap cam. The only problem is I need to keep it plugged in because the battery cant hold a charge anymore. Its pretty annoying having a cable dangling around in the car. I do recommend it though only because of the price.
I have the black box as well but I have the C model which is just a capacitor so no battery. Having to plug it in all the time is annoying, but living in the South, the heat will kill a battery very quickly. I mounted the cam on the top of my windshield, you can try tucking the cable under the headliner and running it behind the dash for power.
