What's so good about the Bluebird versus the AT4040?

I wouldn't say its "so good" in COMPARISON. They're both very good microphones at the same price point. They do sound a TINY bit different because each microphone picks up a different amount of lows, mids, and highs. But which you think is better in this case is extremely subjective contingent upon which frequency ranges you like accentuated. From what I've read, the majority consensus is that the AT4040 is a touch warmer (more lows, less highs) and sounds a bit better with vocals, whereas the Bluebird has more highs (which some describe as harsh on vocals) and sounds a bit better in general-purpose usage. But I want to emphasize that the differences between these are very small and very subjective, and at that point the EQ you apply in post-production will make these differences even smaller. IMO the Bluebird's increased responsiveness to highs lends itself to fuller sounding acoustic instruments as well as greater flexibility in post-prod EQ whereas the 4040's warmth makes it sound a little better if you aren't going to EQ. Other people may comment in disagreement though because again this is very subjective, but both are great for the price.
Very surprised the Bluebird hasn't been dropped before. Can we do this thing??
