I own both a shutter and a dark magic 2. I can say that hands down the shutter is better all around for unresponsive play, but the dm2 should come with both a responsive and non responsive bearing. If you are serious about wanting to learn string trick you would be doing yourself a disservice to settle for less. On the other hand the dm2 is pretty small compared to most full size competition yoyos like shutter
