LuLuOrangeThe hype may be strong, but I was amazed how much better they were than the Momentums. I got the Momentums as a gift and I thought I would try the M50x because of all the hype. Immediately returned the Momentums because they just didn't have the clarity. You pay a lot for the style of the momentums, not the sound.
Edit: So... I'm not going to try to reply to everyone individually. I guess I should have stated I'm not super into Hi-fi headphones, but I wasn't trying to troll anyone. I was actually disappointed in the momentums after I tried the M50x. I did not burn either of them in, which may have been why I was disappointed in the momentums sound at first. I was just going from a general user experience. I got the momentums because they were so praised and I had tried them at CES and loved them. I guess I just didn't give the momentums a chance to break in, because I didn't do any white noise or anything (just 40 ish hours of listening to music). I still stand by my decision to return them based on comfort as well because the momentums were uncomfortable with my glasses frames. I did have the over the ear version so that probably made the whole glasses situation a bit worse, but I wanted the better passive noise cancelation. The momentums just seemed a bit muddy to me in the mid range, but maybe that would have gotten better with breaking in.
Hope that sorts a bit of this out. Even if my opinion may be wrong... just letting people know my experience with them as a novice user trying to get into Hi-fi headphones.
ChechillnAnd that can happen when u are trying new really good headphones with out "trainning" your ears first(it depends on the source too)....
Any way there were couple of votes on them already... now we can choose something better like the V-moda, Momentun or the DT990!!! why do u insist with the m50?
Chechillnlol man, you obviously know nothing about headphones. Anyone who knows a thing or two about headphones knows that every single headphone (over-ear, on-ear, in-ear, etc.) has a "burn-in" period where you will need to be wearing the headphone and be playing music for a good number of hours (>100 hours at least).
Also, how can you even compare the Momentums (particularly the more expensive over-ear version) to the cheap M50X. is beyond me.
AnfieldThe momemtums i believe are priced due to it's design/look/portability and not particularly for its sound quality. I won't surprised if the AT M50s sound better than them.
