Yes, but not all speakers are the same. Also, many of these speakers I'm seeing people putting up now are passive speakers, like ones you would hook up to an avr, etc. Their use is better suited to home theater and music from further away, while the Audioengines do best at being desktop speakers (nearfield). But everyone has their own way of using speakers; that's part of what keeps life interesting. :)
