I've seen all the new guns coming out of the toy fair and I didn't see one that could replace the stryfe really. The new Doomlands Desolator does look pretty sweet. As do the new rival guns.

When I say replace, I mean that they will stop making the stryfe and instead make the hyperfire (or whatever it is called) in it's place. Like they did with the stampede (replaced by rapidstrike) and the maverick (replaced by strongarm). We will just have to wait and see.
Nearly every blaster here is electronically powered. These things are loud you know.

The flywheels are harder to maintain and (subjectively) less enjoyable to mod. Flywheels also seem to have lifespan issues(even unmodded).

All electronic engines have lifespans. So do springs. I will say that unmodded, flywheels don't work well wet situations, but that varies.
The best guns on here are by far the Alpha Trooper, Rapidstrike, and the Zeus. The Zeus being better in all categories. It just doesn't fire darts so you'll still need to spend on ammo. Based on how this site works, getting a deal on a Zeus would most likely be the best. Stryfes are on sale at Walmart for 10 bucks right now. Stryfes are the overall "best" but I wouldn't want to waste votes on lesser blasters where the discount is minimal. The Alpha Trooper is sought after as well and would also be a decent contender. The Rapidstrike too since it's not terrible in stock form, more pricey, and can be nicely upgraded. The demolisher is fun so I can also see that winning. However you basically factor in the question of, "do I want a rocket or do I want full auto with a Rapidstrike as well as an 18 round mag/darts vs the smaller capacity magazine and dart count of the Demolisher?"

Yeah, I've seen deals for 3 stryfes for $21. Probably because they are getting replaced by the newer model, the hyperstrike (I think) that they showed off at toy fair.
I'm not a big fan of the Demolisher as the launcher makes it pretty front heavy. The Rapidstrike really isn't very rapid at all without upgraded batteries. I think people who use Massdrop would want to go for a Rival blaster so I'd recommend either the Zeus or the Apollo but I also really like my Hammershot so that would also be an excellent choice.

Yeah, you have to mod the rapidstrike and rewire the motors (or get better ones) and then use higher voltage batteries to give it a good firerate, otherwise semi-auto is actually faster.
Although IMO the stryfe is the pinnacle of all nerf guns, but whatever.
If you want the best out of the box performance, go with the zeus, as the muzzle velocity is around 100 feet per second, were as the others tend to be around 70 FPS. However, loading the zeus is a bit slower (although tons of fun), and the magazine only holds 12 rounds, and you can't get a bigger or smaller one for it. Also, because it is part of a new line of blasters, it is not compatible with all the old darts, but if you buy more (which I did) it is not that big of a deal. The main problem is that because of the flywheel motors that it uses, the batteries die off pretty quickly, but you can still spend 2 days non-stop nerfing with out having to change them. The ergonomics of it are superb, it is semi-automatic, and all in all it is one of my favorite blasters to use in un-modified form, I highly recommend it. Because of how it carries the batteries, it is also very well balanced.
The rapidstrike with the camera is overpriced crap, better to just go with the normal one and get your own camera. The teradrone is also horrible, the controls are crap, firing is crap, and it is very slow. I can see wanting the demolisher, but IMO it's ergonomically bad because of the rocket launcher part of it, which I never even use. It tends to get in the way of the magazine. However, some people do like it, and it can be fun.

But the nerf cam is semi auto and the rapidstrike is full auto

If you want semi auto in a big package like that, get the modulus. It has a ton of attachments that come with it, and it costs less.
