I like that the ACR PLB does not require a subscription, is a sealed unit, has a 5 watt signal (versus 400 milliwatts on the SPOT 3), and uses 406 mhz, 121 Mhz, and GPS. This gives SAR 3 different tools to find you in an emergency.
