WanderingJohnny@WanderingJohnny - Thermarest is not ready to work with our community yet. We'll keep working to get you the best gear, including some of the other winning sleeping pads.

DannyMilksHi Danny, Had a chat to Exped? Their gear is great but they don't have the following that Thermarest has. Massdrop could open a new customer base that hasn't considered them yet. I have my eye on the new Hyperlite and Winterlite pads. Regards, Hubert

HubeyDoobyDooHubert, in the last month we've listed the Exped Synmat and the Synmat UL already. Do you receive the daily emails and did you see those drops when they came up?
I'll see what I can do to get the Hyperlite and Winterlite pads in the future, but those might prove more challenging.

DannyMilksHi Danny, Thanks for your response, I'm brand new to Massdrop and didn't notice the notification bell till just now. Alas I joined after the Exped Synmat & UL drop, but I still think the new offerings (Hyperlite and Winterlite) are a better product for the UL minded. In light of Thermarest not willing to work with you, this vote poll should be amended somehow or perhaps a new poll started? And Large sizes please!! I've bought 6 pads in the past 3 years and none of them have been able to let me sleep through the night without problem. But the closest has been the one and only large size amongst the group.
For others reading, the Thermarest Neoair series are good on paper and I have two friends who love theirs, but when I tested a large version in store I found only the middle centre line sleep-able on. When you move to the edges they start to collapse much quicker than I expected, about 10cm (4inches) from the edge. As you get closer to the edge the pad flattens out and slopes down becoming entirely flat, encouraging your body weight to roll off the pad entirely if you're not paying attention (and who is when they're sleeping?(and yes it was fully inflated. And I'm rather skinny too.) Vertical baffles have the opposite effect and the Exped pads have larger baffles on the edges to counter this effect (like bumper bowling!) You can lie comfortably on the edge fully supported and off the ground. I tested the mats side by side in store. The difference was profound for me.
What does this mean? A weak edge has the potential to wake you up due to you being partially on the cold floor of your tent. This has happened a few times for me using other pads.
However, if you sleep straight and keep straight the entirety of your sleep cycle, then this design quirk of the Neoair doesn't concern you, and you're one lucky (most likely military trained) bastard.
