To everyone interested in a Barbour jacket. Sizing is not congruent between models. The most notable sizing difference is between their three "traditional" jackets (the Bedale - shortest, the Beaufort - mid-length and long enough to cover a blazer by about an inch, and the Border - mid thigh to knee depending on your height). I would recommend the Border if you're 6'5" or taller, and you want something to cover a blazer.
More here about those three jackets in particular. http://www.bestinthecountry.co.uk/barbour-buyers-guide
While these would be fitted into a "boxy" fit by today's standards, they are made that way for a purpose. Layering under any of the three is easy, and will not restrict movement. They also have raglan sleeves so up-sizing if you are between sizes, will definitely not look ridiculous unless you wear skin tight pants.
Between those three and some of the fitted jackets there is a HUGE size discrepancy. I've only tried one fitted jacket on from Barbour (I believe it was the national) and it was very very true to size. I mean putting on a 38, you had maybe 38 1/2 inches around your chest. One other major discrepancy is that some of Barbour's products are now made in eastern Europe, and no longer in the UK. I believe this is some of the international line, and any non-waxed-cotton garments. But don't hold me to that.
So remember, if you plan to wear the jacket year around, go with the "boxy" fit. (They also have zip in liners and hoods available in the three traditional style, not sure about the others)
Before you buy, find somewhere to TRY THE GARMENT ON, and bring a heavy sweater, and some layering options.
If you go Barbour, you won't choose wrong.
