I have a the Wildlife Hatchet from Gransfors and its a great little camp tool. Never had an axe that was actually shaving sharp but this one pops the hairs off my arm. Eventually would like to try the small forest or Scandinavian forest axes but I dont know if I would use them, the wildlife hatchet is everything I need it to be for backpack camping.
On a side note, I also have the Large Splitting Axe for my standard duty splitting axe at home and the thing makes the job of splitting rounds easy peezy. Had a friend split some wood for me that was an avid Fiskars user and he is a Gransfors convert now.

Because People Like Gadgets and love to have the "Newest Thing". its the same reason people buy a 8oo dollar phone to buy a new one the next year when tech is obsolete before it ever hits the shelf.

Gransfors bruks American Felling axe!
I carry a fiskars and that sucker will cut! try it out if you can get a hold of one. I have had many small axes and none have cut like this fiskars

Used one and yes they work OK but i will always go with something i can repair if the steel is good i can always put a new edge on a wood handle Axe

Would it be possible to have a Gränsfors drop where you can choose which of their axes you'd want? People obviously seem quite interested in their axes, just in different models.

I've used the Gränsfors Small Forest Axe. It's really an extended handle hatchet. Doesn't have enough handle length to really split through big wood very well, but it is portable, easily packable, and can do much more than a hatchet. I recommend this if you want good chopping power without the length of a real axe.
Gränsfors Small Forest Axe is the perfect size, for all uses. The wildlife is just way too small, and limited on what it can do.
