Does the Zoj have a usable spill proof lid? I'm looking for something to tell my staff to buy that's next-to-laptop friendly.

brandonrosslI don't have a Zoj, but it looks to me like it has a flip top lid that is spill proof when closed, and has to be closed manually when open.
I do have several Contigos. One of the things I really like about them is that you push the button to open it (and it's perfectly placed) and it closes again as soon as you let go.

brandonrosslSort of? As @EWTHeckman mentions, there's a fliptop lid. There is an opening on the top that is exposed when you open the lid (push a little button and it pops open), and you can drink directly, or pour into an available cup. The flip-top has a rubber grommet piece that mates with the opening to ensure a good seal when the flip top is closed (helps with keeping that drink hot!)
To prevent spillage, there's a small slider switch next to the button that locks it (prevents the button from depressing and opening the flip-top). It might take a little more work than the contigo, which is basically "push to drink," but it'll keep your drink hotter, and there's much less chance of leaking out of a loose seal (which I think CAN happen on the contigo, however unlikely)

brandonrosslyes. i would say the zojirushi lid is more spill proof than my old contigo i had by far. and a lot more cleaning friendly. the lid of zojirushi also has a lock so even if you accidently the button it wont open. this was missing on the contigo. also the zojirushi lid covers the drinking surface. which i find more enjoyable out doors and in the shop.

somberbearI should point out that Contigo has redesigned the lid. It still doesn't disassemble, but it now flips open for easier cleaning. They've also apparently come up with an even easier to clean version, but I'm not sure of its availability.
Updated: Here's the version of the Contigo with the newest easier to clean lid. It also includes a lock. http://www.amazon.com/Contigo-Autoseal-Stainless-Steel-Travel/dp/B00HZI5XBG

somberbearI agree with you 100%. Zojirushi did everything right with their travel mug. People complain about it flipping open, but it locks in place so it doesn't fall into your face when you take a sip. Also in regards to vacuum quality, if Stanley is actually making the mugs (in the US) I would definitely want to buy one and check it out. I'd hope the vacuum would be better or equal to the zojirushi (made in malaysia)
