Hey Everyone,
After dozens of calls, emails, pitches, and presentations (drum roll please)... Massdrop has been approved as a direct account with LG!
It's taken some time, but we finally have preliminary pricing for your monitor. If enough people join the buy, we might be able to list it for $800 shipped.
Here's the kicker (and the reason it's taken me six days to post this update), we cant list the 34UM95, we're going to list the 34UM94 instead. Don't know that monitor? Neither does anyone else because it comes from the LG Pro line. Why would we list the pro version? It's the exact same monitor but it comes with an extra two years of manufacturer's warranty. We've also been told the 34UM94 is black instead of silver but we'll confirm when the sample arrives.
What do you think of a 34UM95 with a black case and 3 years of warranty coverage from LG for ~$800 shipped? (all shipped prices are assuming you're in the US, international shipping will cost a small fortune by virtue of the weight)
Let me know and I'll get back to LG for the next steps in getting this listed : )

WillWOW! Was not expecting this! Will, you rock!
I'd be down for $500 off MSRP. How many are needed for the drop?
And is there a spec sheet somewhere for the 34UM94? Is the only difference that the color is different? These aren't used store displays or something?

WillIf it's 3440 x 1440p, I think it will be very popular on massdrop, easily reaching the $800.00 required buyers. Plus the black version would probably give MD pretty good publicity. I'm just glad I didn't purchase the 34UM95 this weekend at Frys because the CS sucked haha

WillCan I ask what the "LG Pro Line" is and why no one has heard of it?

NighttimeMoldJust a guess, but it might be in their Commercial line.

NighttimeMoldMost people aren't pro enough to know about the pro line.
Really though, like kevinrivers said, it's also called the commercial line. Normally you don't have the option to buy these displays as a consumer.
Aside from the extended warranty and the possibly all-black case (still to be determined), they also have a shorter wait time attached to them. A Massdrop order for the standard 34UM95 wouldn't ship until mid to late August (according to LG) but the 34UM94s should be good to go by late this month.

rockodileDepends how lucky you are. In all seriousness, you're responsible for import costs and taxes should they apply.
As an international customer buying from Massdrop, know your products are coming from an American source and you should be prepared to pay whatever import taxes your country collects.

WillAwesome, really looking forward to seeing this set up. In the event that one may arrive defective, how would the warranty handle it in this case? Send the display in for repair, I'm guessing?
Thanks again for your efforts, Will. Can't wait for more details.

WillThanks for the extra info. I imagine the warranty covers things like stuck/dead pixels and excessive backlight bleed (because with IPS panels, you're going to get at least a bit), right?

Caleb_BHey Caleb_B,
Warranty would work exactly as it would if you bought direct from LG. You'd need to call the warranty dept and work with them.
Massdrop members have access to support@massdrop.com and they can help you determine if your issue is covered under the warranty (LG has the final say but we'll try to help as best we can), but for the replacement/repair, you'll need to work with LG.

DrewThe number of people needed for the drop could be quite high (100-200) but based on the responses, endorsements, and other posts I've seen around online, we should be able to hit those numbers.
Got some specs, posting in a few.

pgtruesdellHi pgtruesdell,
Thanks! You bring up a good point, don't forget guys, it's not just me (or the buyers in general) doing all the work. There's a whole creative team (all the words on the site, all the pictures) a design team, and an engineering team (this comment system, the rest of the site, and the fact it stays up when ya'll slam it after we send an email). Points to the whole team for making this possible.
Looking forward to helping you allocate your future children's would-be inheritance for more pressing cause : )

WillThanks Will! That's good to hear, I was wondering if things would be any different given that it isn't from a consumer line.
As far as LG being easy to work with and transparent, that will definitely carry forward and influence my purchasing decisions.
Thanks so much for all of the updates, and to the entire Massdrop team as well. This will be my first time participating in a drop, and I am thoroughly impressed. It's difficult to contain the excitement, really hoping this works out!

Caleb_BCool, confirmed to be black, 3 year warantee. Sounds great if it's under $900. Take my money :) I keep talking this monitor up, buddy of mine who sits next to me at work wants one now as well. He already signed up on massdrop and is waiting with me.
