What an interesting product. It is very functional and useful and I quite like it. However, the acrylic base of the product came with an enormous sticker from the factory slapped on it and the amount of time I am going to spend getting rid of the residue on this thing knocks it down quite a bit.
Honestly for the money, it's okay. I enjoy the brushes but they don't come with protective sleeves for the tips, so I'm forced to store them in the box they came in, so that the brush heads don't get messed up. The disassembled plastic keycap holder leaves much to be desired, when I could easily order this same set with an aluminum holder from half a dozen other sites. The switch opener is about the same, not bad, just not great. The tweezers are usable, if not underwhelming in terms of quality (pretty thin metal all the way through). Everything is just okay. If Drop were to offer a higher quality set for $70-$80, I would much rather purchase that set than this set. But, for the time being, it's usable.
Perfect for Lubing Switches in volume and organization is made easy.
It is self-explanatory what the product does, and it did that. It's great for organizing a lubing station and has all the necessary tools. If it could improve anywhere, the tweezers are sub-par. The tweezers are too flexible from the joint where the arms meet to the end, and mine in my kit were bent out of the box. The tips didn't meet when closing them, but they are flexible enough to bend them back into position by hand. On multiple occasions, if you squeezed the tweezers too hard, the piece you were trying to grab would be ejected from the tips due to the arms being too flexible. They were "good enough" for placing foams onto my board for a stabilizer install, but I would not rely on them for much more than that. They would need to have more rigidity like a the Drop Switch puller to be functional.
All in all great product package, tweezers need an upgrade.
Although not necessary, lubing stations like this really help you stay organized while lubing switches for a build. This station has the added bonus of magnetic spring holder and a spot to place a switch opener. Overall, I highly recommend this station over others that hold more switches but have less emphasis on organizing all the tools and parts that you use while lubing
It may be overpriced for acrylic, but this gets the job done and looks great. This product comes with brushes and a switch opener, so buying additional switch openers is unnecessary.
Super straightforward lubing station -- what you see if very much what you get. The components all do their job, albeit in a bit of a mediocre fashion. Brushes are solid enough to do the job, and the station is enough to hold the components. The switch opener could be better, but, like the running theme, it does its job of opening with some difficulty/finnickiness. Tweezers are great to test hotswap PCBs, but aren't the stiffest nor have the smoothest and flush tips.
Would only reco as an add-on to an order when you have a Drop Keyboard Club coupon and need something extra to reach free shipping.
