Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

As for me I have bought an amp/dac combo to run this (quite cheap one - FiiO e10k ~ 75$) and it works great for me, getting to very high volume even not on the max scale with zero distortions.
I may recommend you get these and test it out how it works for you, if you notice the volume is too low, just grab quite cheap dac/amp combo as I mentioned and you're good to go.
Regard a mic - I guess since you're short of money you're not going to use a interface as a connector for your mic, but a simple plug&play to motherboard (usb mic), if that's the case, the best one available on the market now is the Blue Snowball iCE Condenser - https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Snowball-iCE-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B014PYGTUQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1505309053&sr=1-3&keywords=snowball+ice
Has the best sound quality and noise filtering, will be great for streaming/discord etc'.
and connect a mic to it via XLR for best quality, you can also connect to it your headphones plus a mic like this for e.g https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Professional-Broadcasting-Recording-Microphone/dp/B00XBQ8UGG/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=andrhuan01-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=464c7c6be0c095f9f4cb3831b5aac603&creativeASIN=B00XBQ8UGG (which works great with an interface) here's a video showing you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMiuElvxEFw
That way you can either improve headphone quality/amp them and receive best recording quality(for guiter+singing)
If I were you I'd go this path, but since I don't use a mic so I'd go for dac/amp instead an interface.
