Mic arrived today, and after testing I notice hissing white noise in the background
Compared to LinusTechTips's very clear sound sample (https://soundcloud.com/ltt-mic-test) the background static is very noticeable on my recordings.
Searching for a fix led me to upgrading soundcard and apparently Realtek Audio doesn't play well with the mic.
Can anyone with Realtek onboard sound confirm that it is the onboard sound causing the hiss? Should I upgrade to a dedicated soundcard? Did I get a defective unit? Thanks for any input.

XTCrispyyour on-board audio probably isn't very good, it's not something specific to realtek, it can happen with any on-board audio solution, they are kind of hit or miss (though the ones on higher end motherboards tend to be better, it's not particularly always the case)

XTCrispyI finally got to test mines out, with the arrival of my AKG's (Woot!), and I too heard a VERY noticeable white noise in the background. And I too am using the on-board soundcard, Realtek. Might I ask, which sound card did you end up getting? I might need to get one knowing this.
