wagagagaggagCome on, people, learn how to READ THE DESCRIPTION. You should read the comments, too.
Anyway, the estimated ship date is March 25, the description says. Given the great number of participants in the drop and the general experience from previous drops, there might be a delay and further waiting beyond that date (that's my assumption).

KAPS1M0First purchase for me from Massdrop, saved 8 dollars, waiting 3 weeks for delivery. Don't know if it's worth 8 dollars to wait this long. To me that's the weakest point in this service.

joenewbieThe whole point is, you could see the estimated ship date and the cost before you bought it.

PanisSupraOmniaYes yes we can read perfectly fine. However he does have a valid point. Some drops are worth waiting for others are not (custom keyboard keysets come to mind). You also must know that a lot of us are trying the service out for the first time.
Ps massdrop is a really cool service that I'll be using again.

joenewbieWell.. not like anyone forced you to buy, was it? And if you didn't read the description carefully enough that's not massdrops fault... is it? This is the first massdrop purchase for me too btw.

dsugoiI totally agree with you on the first part. Some drops are not really, really worth it. Especially if one wants something quickly and/or is willing to pay more, they might be better off somewhere else.
But I do not agree with you on the first time user part . I was a first time user recently, it is not that long ago that I joined massdrop. Indeed, at first it struck me as unusual (to say the least) for a product to take so much time to get to me, because I was not used to that. But I knew what I had gotten into. So, for me, the "I am trying this out for the first time" is no excuse. The whole process is explained in the faq. And it says in the description how long it takes to ship. Don't want to wait? Don't join.

KAPS1M0Some people are more impatient than others. I also believe the faq doesn't really explain the length could be up to a month or longer(not always the case). The shipping is at the bottom but like myself didn't really see it because I hopped onto the drop in the last few hours BUT I already know how group buys work.
Oh and all of this isn't like I regret buying from massdrop. It really is a great service to use. I'm just giving my two cents on not being so hostile to new users.

dsugoiI didn't mean to be hostile. I really didn't. It's just that, as some complain about the long waiting time, I complain about those that pay for something without reading the description. Not only on Massdrop. How about other services or physical stores? Isn't it irresponsible to be like that?

KAPS1M0I use MassDrop to buy expensive things that I do not mind saving up for. Usually the discounts are worth the wait but if it helps think of this service like lay away. You see an interesting drop that may be too expensive just choose the commit option and you will save money while being able to save up at the same time.

EnixionI'm not blaming anyone, I'm just saying when you get something from Massdrop expect a long wait for delivery. I want to see Massdrop improve and to me that's the weakest point. What you're taking as a frivolous complaint was actually intended to be constructive criticism.

PanisSupraOmniaI don't disagree, I just think there could be a better way to deal with the delivery times. Either that or the manufacturers need to dig a little deeper into the price. If anything Massdrop shouldn't have to get the order and then redistribute the products, Massdrop should make the deal, take their piece and then the manufacturer then acts as drop shipper so it doesn't have to go through two shipping stages.
I like Massdrop and I'm just trying to offer constructive criticism to see it improve.

KAPS1M0Oh and I get what you're saying, I mean yes, I knew what I was in for, but anyone would have to admit the weakest part of the whole thing is that you have to wait. It's about a 20% discount to wait 2 weeks beyond "normal" shipping times. So there is a tradeoff, and for a lot of products it's not a big deal. I'm just saying if the turnaround time could be improved it would be better. As it stands there are just some things I won't buy on Massdrop because of the wait time.
I'm not trying to troll but rather offer what I feel is constructive criticism, especially for a concept I like a lot. I mean the whole vote for what we drop and let our collective buying power reduce the cost for a particular product is awesome. Which is why I want to see Massdrop get more... massive. :)
The bigger they get the better the deals will get.

joenewbiePersonally, I do not mind the long wait. However, it would be nice if massdrop can somehow do combine shipping if we buy different things from different drops in a short fixed period of time. it would save us some money and save some boxes.

IronMojiI agree. Even if things were delayed another day to sort I would prefer this. I had a couple drops that came from the same manufacturer to massdrop, probably the same day, then both ship out to me the same day and then arrive the same day.
Though. one was shipped USPS and the other UPS, but the UPS box was handed off the USPS for the last leg. Having shipped and received thousands of packages myself it would probably be cheaper to just ship them as one package. The UPS package was also cheaper for a larger box. Heck, there was enough room to fit both items in one box (and not need as much bubble wrap).

joenewbieSome things I have dropped on come from the company's manufacturer overseas right to massdrop and not to that company's warehouse or distribution center. In those cases It is cheaper to do a big bulk shipment to a distributor in the states. But I get what you are saying.
Something like the modmic could have been even cheaper if it was shipped right from Antlion's warehouse. We all pool our money, Massdrop keeps its cut for organizing the group buy (as the POS), and Antlion ships it. I checked before and the shipping price on Antlion ($4.73) was compatible to massdrop ($5). Massdrop and Antlion could both make the same $, we save a couple $ and a few days shipping time. Even Antlion could have just done a 20% off sale for "x" number of units.

Sparky85This doesn't work for international shipping as we are often taxed based on weight at a certain cut-off. For example, lower than 500g not taxed, anything higher you get hit with a flat rate plus a percentage based on weight.
Breaking to smaller packages makes sense as we will then just receive our packages separately without paying ridiculous taxes.

SyrialI like this bit of logic, thank you for not just telling me to shut up or I'm "on the wrong site." As if anyone has a right to tell me where I can and cannot purchase something, or that I do or don't have a right to voice concerns.
